Putty Sqaud Coming To PSN/App Store

Funny story: Putty Squad first came out on SNES in 1994. It was also developed for the Commodore Amiga, and got excellent reviews in magazines like Amiga Power, but it was never actually released for that platform.

This meant that the more urbane, intelligent, and downright discerning Amiga gamers never got to play it. The SNES lot, meanwhile, never really appreciated it.

Now, Putty Squad is getting another chance to shine on iPhone, iPad, and PSN.

Starring a blob of silly putty that inflates, stretches, flattens, bounces, and in all respects behaves like putty would if it had a brain and central nervous system, Putty Squad sees you traversing a parallax scrolling world besting 2D goons and rescuing Putty's friends.

It's a slow-moving affair, a world away from the twitch-gaming of Sonic The Hedgehog, so there's every chance it'll work well on a touchscreen, and it's likely to work well on PSP.

We'll let you know when the game hits PSN and the App Store some time this autumn.[/p]

The game was coming to the DS a few years ago but it sounds like it never got past the planning stages. Both this and the first game were great and unique take on the platforming. Seeing as most PSN/App Store games seem to come to DSiWare maybe we'll see it on that service one day or even WiiWare.

Oh hey, I think I actually remember Putty Squad, somewhat vaguely.
I think it was one of the many, many SNES roms my older brother bought home on a disc years ago, it was a rompack + emulator, back around the year 2000.

Aren't Ocean games defunct now though? Who owns Putty Squad?

Great news, Haddy! It has always interested me as a game (on the Amiga with Putty) but never went around playing it.

They had some publisher rights but they reverted back to the developer after some time. Think System 3 has some rights too and they still release stuff, though mostly crap.

I used to play this game a very long time ago on PC. I think it was some demo..
Or maybe I just used an emulator, can't remember.

Though, When I saw the title I was thinking it was some sort of Power Rangers spinoff. haha.
