Hardware PSTV won't detect dualshock 3 via USB

I just now dug up my pstv after not using for a year, and I was trying to connect it with a DS3 to pair a DS4 onto it. The problem is that the usb port isnt working. I have read a couple times that it is the psp power adaptor that I am using on my pstv. Could that be the issue? or should I purchase a vita?

Why are you using a DS3 to pair a DS4?

Have you tried a different USB cable? Make sure it’s a data cable and not just a charge cable.
