Hey I'm gunna get a psp but I don't no if I should gEt a psp go or psp slim since u can download games does that mean u can download them for free illegegally?? And if I get the psp slim are they gunna phase out the discs all help is appreciated

Even if you could i'd recommend you not to pirate your games, if you're not prepared to walk into a shop and steal something don't pirate, im not saying that stealing is right but just trying to emphasize the fact that piracy is the same as shoplifting...

You beat me to it.
Why get the psp go for downloads only when you can get a 3000 and a 16gb memory stick.

Psp go pros
smaller
good screen
downloadable games
bluetooth?
internal memory
microphone

cons
new proprietary memory
download only
non-removable battery
awkward controls
high price

any psp pros
downloadable games
umd games
used game market
sharing games
3000 has great screen
3000 has microphone
cheap
memory has gotten cheaper
removable battery

cons
no built in memory
proprietary memory format
umds make awful noise

Yes, lets get technical...
piracy is pretty much theft...if you want to get technical, just fill it with what ever you want, but in generally speaking it's the same thing. it's just as stupid as people saying rap isn't singing.

If digital download takes off, I have a feeling they are going to restructure the current system where the store that sells the PSP Go gets a percentage of game bought from that device, probably distinguishing it by some sort of internal sku on the machine. In other words, still keeping retailers happy.

Then Gamestop better learn some exchange rates real quick because this cookie will not go near the limited content of the US PSN. Of course I doubt they will because Gamestop employees aren't trained to handle such "complex" matters.

Meh. Who cares if the games retailers stop carryign the hardware, peopel can always find them at Walmart.

I think, as lame as it might be for the consumer, there would be an option to keep games retailers happy. Have download stations in the store that sell the software at a $5 or so discount from the normal Internet download price, but that actually kick a portion over to the store. It means significant mark-ups against what they should reasonably be charging, but whatever. Alternately, the retail store could offer a proper manual and box of some sort, similar to limited editions.

The PSPgo is actually a testing handheld to stop game piracy of Sony. I would not participate in to their silly games. I'll wait for the 4000 to appear.

If you like to beta test, go ahead, buy the PSPgo. only a few people know the reason why there's a PSPgo.

So can Go games not be copied? I would think that being downloadable already it wouldn't be that hard to break them down.

This is kind of starting to sound like when the DSi was about to be released. Everyone started asking if flash carts work and if there could be an SD card exploit. Only time will tell if either handheld gets hacked for "Homebrew use" (really, everyone should stop sugar coating it). I bought a DSi the first day and it still hasn't been fully hacked (I bought an AceKard for now), so I think I'll stay away from the PSP Go...for a day or two, I'm a sucker for new tech.

Even if the Go gets hacked, i am still sticking with my PSP-2000. I can barely approve of the 4.3" LCD on the slim, let alone a half inch smaller screen on the go. I do think it is nice hardware, but too small of a screen. That and the fact that they changed memory cards again, and there isnt even a normal USB connection anymore, its all proprietary crap again.

In short, im quite happy with my slim as is.

well it looks kinda cool and has 16 gig

but what if you memory is full with games and you want to buy new ones

you must delete a game that you paid for ?

good point.

as i pointed out, the PSPgo is just a testing handheld and should not be taken seriously.

if you have the money, go waste it. but i prefer my UMD'ed PSP 2001. I can download the same games from the PSN if I want to.

EDIT: Didnt the PSPgo has memory card? yes? you must have forgotten it.

Well you can re-download your bought games.
And to be honest i really like the idea of a PSPGo but without any solution to get my UMD games on it (without paying again for them) and for this ridicilous price i will never buy that thing. I would more tend to buy a PS3 Slim for only 50 $/€ more or just a XBOX360 Elite seems a much better investment.

I guess Sony is trying to appeal to the Iphone crowd because of the "premium" pricing. If I could find a brand new star wars edition psp 2000 I'd pick it up in a heart beat. Perfect balance of form and function

I just decided when the Go was launched would be a good time to start shopping for a modable 2000, since a lot of people are now looking to move up.
