PSP 3000 getting a $40 price cut

Not anything related to your post contents but if you want to respond to another post without making another one (which is a good idea since double posting is dumb), it's just better to copy the quote from another post and edit it into your previous one.

This isn't about PSP sales. Stop acting like it is.

Oh really? I don't see any other system mentioned in the title of this topic.

Sadly even this major price drop wont help this floundering system. Even "homebrew" and CFW has lost its appeal. If people want to play old Super Nintendo/Genesis games they have plenty of options other than the PSP.

And its sad that the biggest appeal of the PSP was content created for older system. That alone says something about the quality of the system.

Some of the best PSP titles sold like crap. Proving once and for all that the entire global PSP community has s*** taste in games. Meanwhile games like 50 Cent Bullet Proof Edition went on to sell very well. Life is not fair.
I really think the big titles sold. Look at Monster Hunter Portable 3 for instance.

Its a fire sale.

For the past several months PSP sales in NA have been a disaster. Suspiciously, PSP sales figures disappeared from NPD results soon after. And as far as software is concerned, the PSP hasn't had a hit in a very long time. (This despite some quality releases in the past month.)

The PSP is a great system and it has an outstanding portable library. However as a product its a complete and total failure. At least in the United States (Aka, the most important market.)
It's not the most important market.
If it was, many companies would already be dead because their games don't sell in the US, but they aren't, because they sell in other markets.

Sadly it seems that most of GBAtemp is anti-PSP.

This thread is about the price cut, not one many units have been sold.
Just because there's a system name in a title means the thread is gonna be about the sales of that syste,-
Finally, this happens on every system. The World Ends with You, one of the most critically acclaimed and praised DS titles didn't sell too well anywhere. While games like Brain Age sell millions of copies. Does this mean DS owners have shit taste in games?

Prove me wrong. Otherwise you've only proven that you're the troll here.

See, I own 3 PSPs and the PSP Go. I also own more games than you'll ever own or play. But you see there is a problem with certain fanboys. They don't care if you have an intelligent, well informed opinion on the subject of portable gaming. If you say anything negative, no matter how true, they will automatically attack you as a troll, fanboy, communist, etc.

This is especially true for Sony fans, who are the most agressive of all fanboys.

All my math is solid. 62 million divided by 5 revisions isn't that impressive. (especially when you pile on the unique bundles.) And with a lack of million sellers, software sales alone prove the real "success" of the machine. Deal with it.

PS: monster hunter is mostly popular in Japan.

And the reason why they're having such a drastic price cut is because of the lack of hardware sales.

See how that works? No? Well, you do now.

Ask yourself: Where were the PSP sales figures in the last NPD sales report? They were suspiciously absent from the numbers that get leaked to the web...

It does not have a US release yet but look at the sales on that thing. Most of them shipped to other countries and almost 50% of its gamers are not from japan. My point is, the sales have always been there.

You're making an assumption. They could just be cutting price because they want to cut price. The NGP is drawing closer and might as well ship those PSP's out. Plus March is a big month for PSP games in the US so why not give a cheaper system to fuel the sales of new games?

Ask youself: Was that really necessary?
It's something evident. I see no need to bring it up and start whatever is going on in this thread.
This is why we can't have nice things a decent PSP thread.

You're making an assumption.

No, I'm not. I'm using the power of observation combined with hard numbers and facts. Number and facts anyone can verify for themselves.

And now you're resorting to personal attacks? Well, that's classy of you.

See, you just want to censor anyone who disagrees with your opionion.

Can we cut out the arguments please guys. I am trashing the last few posts that are just argumentative and off topic, when I check back here I don't want to see any more of this.

I bet sony ordered them (game shops) to destroy all 1000's and hackable 2000's

Huh?

Um, if you're saying they're trying to get shops to "destroy" their 1000s and 2000s then that's kinda irrelevant. But all of them in shops are probably used by now since they're out of production and Sony can't do much about it. They can't force stores to get rid of used products.

Does this mean stores like amazon and walmart will also reduce their prices?! Must buys... 130 dollar is low enough for me to want to emulate my ps1 games!

They most likely sell to other small-class dealers at a discount, or sell them via eBay and such to clear out their stock of those phased-out versions. Nobody in the retail business in their right mind would "destroy" their merchandise when it still has value.

Of course not!
They could just sell them at a discount like you say...
or...
throw them to the dumpster!

I did say if they still had value, of which case that game didn't seem to have any value to the retailer.
