I just got the Chromatic today and love it. However, I've discovered an odd issue I thought I'd let you all know about. Save states are not working at all with the Everdrive GB X7 for Gameboy games. They work fine saving and loading for the Gameboy Color (from the several games I've tested). Every time I try to save a state when playing a GB game the system freezes entirely resulting in me being forced to turn the Chromatic off and back on again. I confirmed this is indeed a Chromatic issue and not the cartridge itself because save states are 100% working for GB and GBC on the Analogue Pocket using the Everdrive.

Using the "pocket fix" in the settings has mixed results. With some games the save state works but the sound freezes on one note when coming back from saving while loading the save state from a fresh boot has the same result with the sound freezing on one note. With other games the Everdrive OS crashes and restarts all together with no save state being created.

I have a theory that this has to do with battery draw and will be fixed once the Chromatic gets an official battery pack. I'll report back here once I've done some more testing.

Everdrive OS ver: 1.06

I definitely think that it's a power draw issue. The EZ-Flash Jr has similar problems.

Have you tried it with the screen brightness and volume turned all the way down? That fixed the issues for me with my EZ-Flash Jr cart.

I just tried that for kicks but it didn't make a difference.

Dusting off my account for the first time in.....a long time.....to mention I'm also having the issue with an Everdrive GB x7 and Chromatic. Sometimes saving normally (say, in Pokemon Crystal) will crash as well, but savestates seem to be more common.

I disabled the system button in the Everdrive settings, and in my limited testing after that, it seemed to be generally more stable.

Well, Analog Pocket, FPGBC, Chromatic, misterFPGA, they're all hardware emulation. I wouldn't expect flashcarts to work on them like they do in original hardware, since flashcarts also emulate their own hardware - original cartridges. So you're using two devices that try to act like original hardware... interacting with each other smells like trouble zone. I know EZ-Flash and krikkz implemented a mode to support in a better way a hardware emulation handheld like Analog Pocket, but that doesn't makes matters more accurate.

You do what you prefer with your income, but at that point just use a normal software emulation device. Hardware emulation isn't inherently more accurate than software emulation, and if anything GBA tests, for example, have been proving that it isn't the case either in these products. Not that they don't have their own merit as a convenient device to play games in, but just use an SD card instead if you're thinking on using a flashcart. I saw Chromatic has a place in the PCB to solder an SD reader in - check makho's latest stream.
