It is recommended to keep your console as low as possible to have access to better jailbreak stability and features. Stay as low as possible within the "Golden" firmware brackets that apply to your current firmware, see the top of this page.

(No jailbreak is ever guaranteed. No developer is obliged to release anything publicly)

WARNING:

Only update OFW manually via USB by getting the firmware file from HERE and installing from <USB>:/PS5/UPDATE/PS5UPDATE.PUP
(Updating with RECOVERY PUP will perform a factory format and will wipe your internal HDD)

PS5 factory mode PUP installation path:
/usb/PROSPERO/UPDATE/PROSPEROUPDATE.PUP

NOTE: Make a system back up before attempting any modifications.
On console: go to [Settings] > [System] > [System Software] > [Back Up and Restore] > [Back Up Your PS5]

Select Your Jailbreak:

    Enabling web browser:
Open [Settings] > select [Users & Accounts] > select [YouTube] > click "Link" > click "use browser" > click "terms" (bottom right) > click google apps icon (top right) > select Google Search.

    Exploiting 1.00-5.50:
Enter https://zecoxao.github.io/luasauce/ or https://github.com/kmeps4/PSFree into google > click “Jailbreak" or wait for it to complete.

    Exploiting 7.00-13.60:

    https://ntfargo.github.io/Relapse-Exploit/

    https://zecoxao.github.io/bagagwa/

    https://soniciso1.github.io/poopicker/

Debug settings will be loaded, and the package installer can be found under [SETTINGS] > [DEBUG SETTINGS].

  2. Important:
You will need a BD dive paired to your Slim/Pro console or an OG Phat model . Consoles must be on 1.00-13.42 to run this exploit.

Recommended ISO: Viktorious AIO Auto BD-JB ISO for 4.XX-7.61

Exploiting: 1, Burn ISO to a blank BD-R or BD-RE > Insert into console > click on the [DISC PLAYER] icon.

2, Highlight [PIPELINE RUNNER] > click option 2 [Normaljailbreak-etaHEN-UMTX1.pipe] to auto load etaHEN ready for ItemzFlow.

ELF Loader uses PS5 IP: port 9021 / BIN loader uses 9020 / Jar loader uses port 9025

Debug settings will be loaded, and the package installer can be found under [SETTINGS] > [DEBUG SETTINGS].

  3. Important:
LUA entry point works from 2.00 to the latest OFW, but there is no KEX above 12.70 yet.
(A compatible PS4 game is required to launch the exploit on PS5. See below)

Your PS5 console must be activated to use save copying for PS4 games.
    1. Insert your game disc and, as soon as possible, make a save file within it.
    2. Copy the save files to USB, go to [SETTINGS] > [STORAGE] > [CONSOLE STORAGE] > [SAVE DATA] > [PS4 GAMES] > select the game save and copy to a USB drive.
    3. On PC, using a Google Drive account, make a new folder with the GAME ID of your game, and upload the savedata & savedata.bin files to that folder.
    4. Share the folder, set it to editor mode, share with anyone, and click "copy the link".
    5. Join the HTOS Discord group: HERE type "/decrypt", select "FALSE" for including SCE_SYS, paste or type in the Google Drive link, and press enter. The bot should begin mounting your save. (If it doesn't, paste in the link again.)
    6. Click "ENCRYPTED" to remove the Sony PFS layer. Download the generated files and extract the folder to your desktop (you should have 4 files in there and be named dec_savedata_CUSA[GAME ID]).
    7. Using REMOTE LUA LOADER, open the savedata folder, copy the 20 files within into your encrypted save folder on your desktop.
    8. Upload the encrypted save folder (now with 24 files in) to your Google Drive. It should be named "dec_savedata_CUSA[GAME ID]" where GAME ID is your games 5 digit number, and set it to editor mode, share with anyone, and then click "copy the link".
    9. Go back to the HTOS discord server, and type "/encrypt", hit "FALSE" for uploading individually, and "FALSE" to include SCE_SYS. Finally, hit shared_gd_link and paste in your link to the original save (4 files) folder. (If it doesn't, paste in the link again.)
    10. When this is done, paste the link to the decrypted save (24 files) folder, and the bot will encrypt the files.
    11. Resign the files by typing "/resign" followed by your account name on the console, or PSN ID associated with that account if using the latest OFW.
    12. Download the resigned files, extract the files to your USB drive and overwrite them into the savedata folder on your USB or external drive.
    13. Copy the saves back to your console [SETTINGS] > [SAVE DATA AND GAME/APP SETTINGS] > [SAVE DATA PS4] > [COPY OR DELETE FROM USB] > [COPY TO CONSOLE STORAGE] > select your game save folder from the USB drive and copy/overwrite old save data.
    14. Load LUA game again, and you should see the LUA LOADER screen.
    15. You can use "SEND_LUA.PY" to send the UMTX files to the loader.
(NOTE: Some games require manual loading of save game)

On firmware up to 7.61, you can now load UMTX/2 followed by etaHEN by sending the files to your console IP on PORT 9026.
On firmware 8.00-LATEST, you can connect with the REMOTE LUA LOADER APP to send debug notifications or FTP on port 1337.

  8. [UPDATED]
No longer needed if using latest WebKit (to 13.60) or BD-JB (to 13.42)!

    Important:

This method modifies the BD-J stack to allows BD-JB entry point to be re-enabled on consoles up to 13.60, for convenience only.

    Very Important:
This method requires your console to be jailbroken by another method first to gain access to alter the files.

    https://github.com/Gezine/BD-UN-JB

    Preparation:
Burn the ISO to a blank Blu Ray, insert it into the jailbroken console. Send the bdj_unpatch.elf to elfldr using netcat GUI to PS5's IP Address & port 9021 to unpatch BD-J.

(NOTE: DO NOT REINSTALL/UPDATE FW, IT WILL WIPE THE PATCH AND LOSE BD-JB)

Once jailbroken it is recommended to run KSTUFF LITE and SHADOWMOUNTPLUS at minimum to get you up and running.
(ShadowMountPlus: is an automated background auto-mounter payload for jailbroken PS5 consoles. Detects, mounts, and installs game dumps from internal or external storage, with support for UFS, exFAT, PFS, and nested compressed PFS containers)

Additional Information:

Blocking Updated with nanoDNS:
Set primary DNS manually to 127.0.0.1. Send latest elf to BIN LOADER using netcat GUI to PS5's IP Address & port 9021.

PS4 GAME INFORMATION:
OFW 1.xx cannot run PS4 games.

OFW 6.xx runs PS4 games up to 10.50

OFW 7.xx runs PS4 games up to 11.00
OFW 8.xx/9.xx runs PS4 games up to 11.50
OFW 10.xx runs PS4 games up to 12.00

OFW 11.xx runs PS4 games up to 12.50
OFW 12.xx runs PS4 games up to 13.00
OFW 13.xx runs PS4 games up to 13.52
OFW 14.xx runs PS4 games up to 14.00

(Note: PS4 backported FPKGs also work perfectly on an exploited PS5 with Kstuff)

You can install free/demo PKGS (legit pkgs) via the debug pkg installer, provided you have all the files/json/licences required.
(Astro’s Playroom has no licences and can be installed and played from official pkgs and updated inline with your firmware)

Warnings:

1: Never enable IDU mode.
If you do, you will need to enter staff mode by holding L1 + L2 and tapping this combo: circle, cross, square, triangle, right D-Pad. Release L1 + L2, and you can access settings to exit IDU.

2: Try to stay on the lowest FW possible and wait for hacks on that firmware.

3: Installing legit game PKGs you do not own will never work, even if spoofed.

4: If you get stuck in a boot loop at the PS logo, the SNVS is corrupted (if the hash check fails on boot, this causes a “soft brick”). It’s not “bricked”. Simply reinstall your current firmware RECOVERY PUP in safe mode from USB: PS5 > UPDATE > PS5UPDATE.PUP.

Last edited by KiiWii,
Hi everyone.
A friend of mine has a new PS5 (original/fat model) on firmware 6.50 and wants to try jailbreaking it. I want to advise him—though I'm not an expert myself—so I'll list what we have available and how we'd like to proceed.

My friend has:
A PS5 (fat model) on firmware 6.50. *Astro's Playroom* is installed on the console.
  • 2x PCIe 3.0 NVMe drives
  • 1x empty NVMe USB enclosure (10Gb/s)
  • 1x enclosure with a SATA III SSD (512 GB), though enclosure itself is limited to 5Gb/s because USB
  • 2x standard USB HDD
  • The physical disc version of *Arcade Spirits: The New Challenger*
The plan is as follows:
1) Restore profile using Gezine's Y2JB profile.

2) Install one NVMe drive into PS5 M2 slot, but a modification is required first.

He found a "PCIe 4 bypass" file (1MB) that needs to be applied via PC before inserting the drive into the PS5.

3) After that, he should launch Y2JB for the first time, then send some payloads (kstuff lite 1.11 beta?), and then set up autoloader by itsPLK (or something similar) via FTP or lapy file manager... Unfortunately, there probably isn't any other method available then Y2JB for 6.50 :(

I’ll have a lot of questions so I can advise my friend, but I’ll take it step-by-step, starting with the most important one...

Q1) My friend has PCIe 3 NVMe 2280 drive without a heatsink... If he puts it in the PS5, it really needs a heatsink, so he has to buy one separately... Could he use, for example, ID-COOLING ZERO M05 or ARCTIC M2 Pro or AXAGON CLR-M2 ALU? Could you please comment on which one is better and whether any of them will (or won't) fit inside PS5?

Q2) What should be loaded via Y2JB / Y2JB autoloader?

Since my friend will have an M.2 drive in PS5, he wants to install as much as possible directly onto M.2 drive by default.

Although drive is PCIe 3.0 rather than 4.0, speed should still be better than an external USB NVMe drive, and this setup allows for installing PS5 fPKGs directly to M2 drive. I saw a YouTube review showing that *Ratchet & Clank* loaded only 2 seconds slower on a PCIe 3.0 M.2 NVMe drive

I understand it's possible to use official kstuff lite 1.11 beta by Echo, and that should suffice since it has some A53 support built-in... He'll likely use exFAT (or something better in future) for external drive when FPKG not working... but what about backports? Is something like ShadowMountPlus needed for backports? We saw online that fpkg already includes backport, but we don't know if SMP is required. I hear kstuff NG is for newer firmware and doesn't offer anything new, so is proven kstuff lite 1.11 beta by Echo better choice right now?

Q3) Any other advice. For example is it better to update to 7.00 / 7.61 ??
He's just starting out. He isn't logged into PSN on PS5, so I thought the easiest approach was to restore backup using that y2jb backup profile; however, it might be better for him to perform jailbreak using m2 Netflix method instead (so he doesn't have to restore a profile). What do you think? We’d appreciate any advice or tips.

Just to reiterate: it's a PS5 Fat on firmware 6.50, with a focus on longevity and installing FPKGs to M2 SSD if possible.. PS5 console will always be offline (without internet). He also has a jailbroken PS4.

Thank you for help and answers

I thought about JB my ps5 pro on 13.60 but decided against for time being.

Instead I JB an old 6.02fw ps5 fat because i Waited so long for fpkg to finally appear.
So far it's been great. Games like Demon Souls stuttered with dumps but no longer as fkpg. Even some newer titles many fw ahead had backport that shadowmountplus loaded.

6.xx is bit unlucky because literally only fw that didn't get access to Jordys WebKit 😢
But you know Its ok. I never used autoloader before and package manager which are a great convenience this time. In some ways I prefer the challenge of working on my pc with tools, python, etc. Anyway webkit is not as important as it used to be imo.

I took almost a year brake from PS5 scene and it's really impressive to see how progress has been made.

If kstuff could one day load backports I wouldn't even use shadowmountplus. I could live with just kstuff and OnionHen.
In future maybe Kstuff, PHU, Garlic Saves & GoldHen.

My main complaint is about how fragmented game formats has become and frustrating when websites don't organise by categories. Some games are not even tested properly with backports having issues on some fw. And uploaders are lazy with including basic details like an nfo.
It's the first time I have to create my own nfo and logs after testing is done.

Otherwise not many limitations being on an old fw that I experienced so far. Even Wolverine has been backported to 4.03 😂.
PS5 can almost finally take the Crown from PS4 as best JB console to have.

I think "phu" is some kind of experimental format that can be used on an external drive... but from what I've read online, fpkg is still better option now..

I believe it's no longer necessary to load saves manually with Garlic I think I saw that somewhere recently.

Unfortunately, there’s been no reply to my post yet. All I know is that Relapse requires an IP address (Wi-Fi), even on firmware 7.xx, which is why old method—reportedly fully offline—is better

ENYONE CAN HELP

i download onionhen and dpi v2 from elfarsenal git page . but dpi v2 not working in standalone or as plugin in onionhen's plugins folder . i need dpiv2 for installing ps4 pkg with direct package installer:wink:

You actually seem quite knowledgeable and did the research. I can't reply much as not on my pc now, only small smartphone.
I learnt how to set up jailbreaks mostly from "Modded Warfare" videos on YouTube. Quite a few guides on setting up Y2JB.
I used different method to y2jb as I have a Lua game. You can use BDjb if your friend has working disc drive.

If you also go to first page of this forum section, there is a lot of info, links and advice.

That won't work unless he knows how to fetch/convert.
@Constantine-HD use this:

Thanks. I was a bit too lazy to find the original files, but very convenient. Now I have 2 options.

Way-of-working:
I used the 1.009.253 version for my 13.60 system as I already mentioned that would be suitable.
I then used all of the files from https://github.com/itsPLK/ps5-y2jb-autoloader/releases/tag/v1.0.0-dev-8987070

  • I installed the UP4381-PPSA01650_00-YOUTUBESIEA00000 YouTube PKG
  • I uploaded y2jb_update.zip to the root of my USB
  • I made a folder on the FTP /user/download/PPSA01650/ and put the download0.dat file in there.
  • I entered 127.0.0.2 as my primary DNS
  • I went to the MEDIA tab and clicked on the YouTube application.
  • The update.zip file from the root of the USB installed and the rest is history.
  • Done.

Is external drive (usb or m2) still required to play my backups? Or can i make and play backups on internal?
I want to try out the Final.Fantasy.VII.Rebirth (PPSA08668 - EU) game today. I used the original disc before.
The game is an absolute nightmare to load. I tried all formats on a M2 drive. They all stutter like crazy. Apparently only the fpkg file seems to have no issues (up tot 11.60).

Anywayz... After like a zillion try outs I've put the .ffpkg game into the /mnt/ext1/homebrew/ folder. It's stll not great but at least it's playable. So in this case internal loads way better. I'll try other games in the upcoming days.

Ow and any optimizations are welcome :toot:

PS5VR 1.1.0

A VR video player for PlayStation VR2, running natively on a jailbroken PS5.

New in 1.1.0
  • Smooth motion: 8K60 decodes at 30 fps on the PS5, so PS5VR now generates the picture in between on the GPU (block-matching motion estimation). The headset gets around 55-60 pictures a second instead of 30, with the sound kept in sync. On by default; switch it off in the View menu.
  • HDR (experimental, off by default): HDR10 and HLG videos keep their highlights above SDR white in float eye buffers instead of being tone-mapped. Turn it on in the View menu.
  • Mirror to TV is now in the library screen too, and it's remembered between launches.
  • A small, optional "Support PS5VR" link: a QR code in the corner of the TV home screen, a line in the library, and the settings page footer.
Install / update
  1. Unzip PS5VR-1.1.0-PPSA99177.zip and copy the PPSA99177 folder to /data/homebrew/ (replace the old one).
  2. Send ps5vr-helper.elf to your ELF loader on port 9021 (or add it to your autoload list).
Checksums (SHA-256) - official builds only come from this page.
  • PS5VR-1.1.0-PPSA99177.zip 46134d2f761d7036b778b62bd07a1057772fecb19c55dd05dbfad399efe4336c

Unofficial homebrew, not affiliated with Sony. It doesn't include any content.

Good list. For the newcomers, you need to do this on a fake-activated account. I'd advice creating a new user and doing it there or at least learning how to backup your saves from the current user using garlic save manager. If the PS5 is new and you haven't played much or you don't care for game saves, then go on:

Fake-activating an account can be done with offact payload and np-fake-signing payload but that is a bit old and, specially most newcomers will be on high fw versions too, where those payloads don't work; so I advice using latest etaHEN's fake-activation functionality, even if it is only for this, you can change back to PLDMGR and custom payloads later.

To use etaHEN for this, since you are already using a jailbreak, if you are running etaHEN then fine, otherwise in PLDMGR leave only the minimal list of payloads, specially leave kstuff and shadowmountplus disabled and install the etaHEN in the payload list; take it from the original relapse repo ( this is an etaHEN compatible with latest firmwares... ). You can then reboot l, launch whatever jailbreakyou have and either let the jailbreak you are using start etaHEN or go to PLDMGR and manually launch etaHEN ( again, with kstuff and shadowmountplus temorarily disabled, so etaHEN launched without any conflict with those ).

Now, on Settings->Debug Settings ( which opens the etaHEN tool box ) -> somewhere there is the account activation.

And now you can follow @HS2005's setps.

Is there an easy store like app for ps5 to get the latest homebrew and emulators? (not talking about payloads).

Something that will also update the emulator as new releases come out?
