It is recommended to keep your console as low as possible to have access to better jailbreak stability and features. Stay as low as possible within the "Golden" firmware brackets that apply to your current firmware.

Current Examples:

2.00 could be updated to 2.50 maximum to retain Webkit/BD-JB/LUA HV + KEX + HEN.
4.00 could be updated to 4.51 maximum for WebKit/BD-JB/LUA + KEX + HEN + potential HV exploits.
5.00 could be updated to 5.50 maximum for WebKit/BD-JB/LUA + KEX + HEN.
6.XX-7.XX could be updated to 7.61 maximum for HEN using only BD-JB or LUA.
Digital/Pro users on 6.XX-LATEST cannot use BDJB or LUA without an activated console. Wekbit does not go beyond 5.50 for now.
Digital/Pro users or Disc console users on 8.XX-LATEST should consider waiting or selling/swapping consoles to get a lower firmware.

  2. You will need a BD dive paired to your Slim/Pro console, or an OG Phat model on 1.00-7.61 to run this exploit.

    Burn ISO to a blank BD-R or BD-RE, put it into your console, and click on the [DISC PLAYER] icon.
    Highlight [PIPELINE RUNNER] then click option 2 [Normaljailbreak-etaHEN-UMTX1.pipe] to auto load etaHEN ready for ItemzFlow.
    Debug settings will be loaded, and the package installer can be found under [SETTINGS] > [DEBUG SETTINGS].
    ELF Loader will be running on your PS5 IP: port 9021


  3. Important:
    Up to 10.01 has a kernel exploit + HEN
    11.XX-12.70 has a kernel exploit but no HEN yet.
    LUA entry point works on the latest OFW, but there is no kernel or HEN yet.
    (A compatible PS4 game is required to launch the exploit on PS5. See below)

    Your PS5 console must be activated to use save copying for PS4 games.

    1. Insert your game disc and, as soon as possible, make a save file within it.
    2. Copy the save files to USB, go to [SETTINGS] > [STORAGE] > [CONSOLE STORAGE] > [SAVE DATA] > [PS4 GAMES] > select the game save and copy to a USB drive.
    3. On PC, using a Google Drive account, make a new folder with the GAME ID of your game, and upload the savedata & savedata.bin files to that folder.
    4. Share the folder, set it to editor mode, share with anyone, and click "copy the link".
    5. Join the HTOS Discord group: HERE type "/decrypt", select "FALSE" for including SCE_SYS, paste or type in the Google Drive link, and press enter. The bot should begin mounting your save. (If it doesn't, paste in the link again.)
    6. Click "ENCRYPTED" to remove the Sony PFS layer. Download the generated files and extract the folder to your desktop (you should have 4 files in there and be named dec_savedata_CUSA[GAME ID]).
    7. Using REMOTE LUA LOADER, open the savedata folder, copy the 20 files within into your encrypted save folder on your desktop.
    8. Upload the encrypted save folder (now with 24 files in) to your Google Drive. It should be named "dec_savedata_CUSA[GAME ID]" where GAME ID is your games 5 digit number, and set it to editor mode, share with anyone, and then click "copy the link".
    9. Go back to the HTOS discord server, and type "/encrypt", hit "FALSE" for uploading individually, and "FALSE" to include SCE_SYS. Finally, hit shared_gd_link and paste in your link to the original save (4 files) folder. (If it doesn't, paste in the link again.)
    10. When this is done, paste the link to the decrypted save (24 files) folder, and the bot will encrypt the files.
    11. Resign the files by typing "/resign" followed by your account name on the console, or PSN ID associated with that account if using the latest OFW.
    12. Download the resigned files, extract the files to your USB drive and overwrite them into the savedata folder on your USB or external drive.
    13. Copy the saves back to your console [SETTINGS] > [SAVE DATA AND GAME/APP SETTINGS] > [SAVE DATA PS4] > [COPY OR DELETE FROM USB] > [COPY TO CONSOLE STORAGE] > select your game save folder from the USB drive and copy/overwrite old save data.
    14. Load LUA game again, and you should see the LUA LOADER screen.
    15. You can use "SEND_LUA.PY" to send the UMTX files to the loader.
    (NOTE: Some games require manual loading of save game)

    On firmware up to 7.61, you can now load UMTX/2 followed by etaHEN by sending the files to your console IP on PORT 9026.
    On firmware 8.00-LATEST, you can connect with the REMOTE LUA LOADER APP to send debug notifications or FTP on port 1337.

You can install free/demo PKGS (legit pkgs) via the debug pkg installer, provided you have all the files/json/licences required.
(Astro’s Playroom has no licences and can be installed and played from official pkgs and updated inline with your firmware)

Warnings:


1: Never enable IDU mode.
If you do, you will need to enter staff mode by holding L1 + L2 and tapping this combo: circle, cross, square, triangle, right D-Pad. Release L1 + L2, and you can access settings to exit IDU.

2: Try to stay on the lowest FW possible and wait for hacks on that firmware.

3: PS5 FPKGs do not work. A hack for the A53 processor does not publicly exist to enable installing PS5 content as FPKG/PKG.

4: Installing legit game PKGs you do not own will never work, even if spoofed.

5: If you get stuck in a boot loop at the PS logo, the SNVS is corrupted (if the hash check fails on boot, this causes a “soft brick”). It’s not “bricked”. Simply reinstall your current firmware RECOVERY PUP in safe mode from USB: PS5 > UPDATE > PS5UPDATE.PUP.

It's not whether you use a m.2 or the internal drive that will determine if you have a bad kp which will result in a reset being needed. It's messing around with certain aspects of the core firmware which can cause it to go tit's up. There is no playbook for this it's just the luck of the draw... There can be a multitude of factors that can cause a bad journey to occur... The point is if you jb a console then expect things to go south at one time or another....

I was using the term KP very loosely... mine was actually an error type CE-xxxxxx too and i honeslty cannot remember which one as i was how can I put it... midly panicking think what have i just gone and done! suffice to say, i will not be indulging in such activities like that again... Unless that is when they figure out how to get round the BD activation lark... That will be some core level $hit and more than likley make a few things go belly up during the first itterations.... We live in hope :D
 
PS5 Linux (HV and offsets) for 5.xx have been brute forced by TheFlow and Sonic.

Linux up to 6.02 should also be possible in the near future.

So what about fw 6.50?? Before it was mentioned that its basicaly the same as 6.00 with not a lot of changes and Linux should work on it too. So what happened then?? Anyone??
They keep saying it was blocked in 6.50. You gonna have to wait and see for further info.

Yes I know, I was referring to the part of not loosing all your games on internal M2 storage in case of a DB corruption when you only use external.
 
So glad I'm on 6.02, So much good stuff coming, can't wait!!

Also just testing it out but seems that mods work on crimson desert, looks like they need to be the exact version as so far only some mods have worked and some haven't. (I got loading times faster with some of the animation skip mods, pretty awesome!!!)

Major PS5 firmware changes and security fixes have mostly come over the past 5–6 years, usually between firmware ranges (e.g., 4.xx → 5.xx fixed the IPv6 kexploit, 5.xx → 6.xx fixed the WebKit exploit, 7.xx → 8.xx fixed the BDJB and UMTX exploits). I might be wrong, but the first big in-range fix made public seems to have been in the 12.xx range: Poopsploit was patched on 12.02 and media apps like YouTube and Netflix worked only up to 12.40 without needing PSN licenses, but starting with 12.60 (released this year), a PSN connection is required, breaking most jailbreaks that rely on the backup method. The latest HyperVisor exploit being limited to 6.02 (and not working on 6.50) looks like the second or third major in-range security fix made public.

EDIT: I tried many tools, but I get either a overhead error or rc error on multiple saves.
Example: Expected savesize 104857600 but got 104856023 for file savedata! or
Failed to mount savedata (rc=-2147352480)
  • Only got one working: Raspberry Cube (CUSA16074) with from scratch creating my own save.
  • Done for my 10.01 > can go to 12.00 whenever I want now.
  • Also prepped it for my 13.20 console (you never know when).
Don't ask how I did it, because i'm still not sure what the correct procedure is. Took me around 4 hours to decr./encr. and linking it to my account. Had over 10 errors along the way.

I don't even know anymore what errors came flying through the window. Got FC corruptions, mounting errors, no mounting errors, damaged save(s) etc. etc. I copied my account ID on every step. When porting to 13.20 I got the lovely message: Your save belongs to another player. Well that's just a DAMN LIE.

Even when repeating the same steps over and over it eventually worked. Last step I took was to download the encrypted save from 10.01 > put it on the USB and used that USB to copy it to the 13.20 system. Yeah like I've not took that same step a zillion times already..

It's fine now. I tested the P2JB Lua script and got the disc, so when the time comes I might go to 12.00. This was just an experiment.

It's a feature. Not a must. Overall... mods and cheats enhances the experience. Just look at nexusmods as an example.

Also prepped it for my 13.20 console (you never know when).
I did something similar with my 11.40 Slim I bought around 6 months ago. I restored a backup using a modified Artemis game with Remote Lua Loader, but the kernel offsets back then only went up to 10.01. So before I could run P2JB and unpatch BDJ, I had to manually inject current kernel_offset.lua (python send_lua.py <IP> 9026 kernel_offset.lua) and update loaded tables with _G.kernel_offset = get_kernel_offset()

You’ll probably run into the same issue once a kernel exploit drops, since we still don’t have 13.xx offsets. I also had to throw the latest elfldr.elf and elf_loader.lua onto a USB and edit P2JB.lua + elf_loader.lua so they’d load from /mnt/usb0/ after jailbreak was successful. Since my 11.40 isn’t PSN activated, I couldn’t update the savegames through settings. The only other option was restoring a backup and losing all my saves. Got it working with Two Farce btw. Using PLKs iso with Poops now.
 
From the changelog of Y2JB, it seems that 1.3 now includes the update blocker (i.e. no more need to patch the appinfo.db file as described in the video). Is this correct?
If I remember correctly, I started using y2jb on 1.3 and it updated itself once before I applied the appinfo.db fix

even though you said you'll "never understand", I'll try lol:

"cheats" / memory editing is great, very useful, it doesn't always need to be an "instant win" cheat
  • maybe you've played the game tons of times and want to test stuff / break the game
    • walk through walls / teleport codes, infinite health
  • make the game easier + faster to play, or harder to play (2x or 0.5x damage, exp)
    • some games let you select the difficulty, but not all give you so much customization
      • if you're disabled, your reaction times may be slower, but cool if you can make the game easier for yourself
  • some items in a game can be very rng based, or take 4 playthroughs to get some special costume
    • personally I can allocate some time to play games, but not to play a game 2 or 3 times
      • if I want my character to wear a funny hat "early", or start with "new game+" and have an extra area to look at, I'll do it
If you understand the concept of having a "backup", being in control of a digital copy, well it's kind of the same thing with the internals of the game, being in control of the memory / functionality of it too - to a point
