the ps4 pro is stuck on this screen and is asking me to press the PS button to use the controller

ive tried two different cables
the controller has a white light on it, so it is charged etc

I can't get past this screen, tried to reset the controller, repair it also but nothing has helped
what can I possibly do next? please help

did you try another controller? the light should turn blue if it's being detected.

no other controller....

I do have a ps3 controller but i dont think they work do they?

i see flashing white light and i have seen orange no blue

one thing to note - i think I was using the ps4 pro controller on my switch previously.

it should've resynced if you plugged it in. not sure what could be going on. does it still work on the switch?

I am not so sure, I will test it later on

I was thinking about a system update etc but i know that one day I might want to do a jailbreak on the ps4

guess only reality right now might be to buy a new controller and then send it back for a refund possibly.

the only other thing I can think of is that it's the hdd. the registry most likely contains the mac addresses of tied controllers, and I think those are in system_data, which is probably on the hdd, considering it has write privileges.

Ok so how do I fix this?

the internal one. that's the only thing I can think of if not the controller that's at fault. I had a controller's led no longer work, so you couldn't tell if it had charged without turning on the system, which is a serious flaw with the series x controllers. anyway, I had to replace the led, and this was a barely used controller, so the controllers may not be well made.

Might be a cable issue.

I know you said you tried 2 different cables but the ones you tested might only be charging cables.
The PS4 needs a full data cable to sync the controller.

You could maybe try plugging the controller+cable into a PC and see if it recognises it as a controller?
You can test it online here:
https://gamepad-tester.com/

This just worked for me but not sure if I installed any special drivers in the past.

there's a two pack black and red cable for the psv that works with the ps4, and the psv is extremely finicky about cables if using qcma, so they must be high quality.

Yes it could be the cable indeed

Let me recheck that
I think earlier on i plugged it into the pc and it started charging
Dont think windows actually recognised it

Out of interest how will one know which cable would work if i was say ordering off of ebay?

it will mention it being a dual charging and data cable most likely.

There is never a 100% guarantee it will work but you should look for something that says data cable.

I bought some "Amazon Basics" USB cables and they work for me with the PS4.

When you do find a cable that works, put a label on it saying PS4 or something.
That is what I did and I keep it next to the PS4 so I always know where it is if I need it.
