I can't use remote installer siden I get error and can't transfer games, I need something to transfer larges pkg files

you can't use the same hdd if it's extended storage to install packages from, because the drive won't be readable by a pc.

You need about 128gb to dump your almost any ps4 game. That's what I use.

Any USB 3.0 USB Thumb drive would be fine, or any 500GB Sata drive. Better off using HDD

Yes. 256gb will work. I just use my dumping flash drive, which is 128gb. If you plan on mass installing, get an hdd.
