So i recently took over my friends PS3 because it doesn't work anymore.
I wanted to find out exactly what's wrong with it.
So here is the problem : When i turn on the PS3 it makes a beeping noise and a green light starts flashing but then it turns itself off after 2-3 seconds, but when it turned off i saw the light turning yellow for a second..
So my question here is: YLOD?

I'm using a PS3 Phat btw.

Okay, I've got a PS3 from a buddy of mine, and he wants me to remove the game in it. He said that If I can fix the YLOD, I can keep the PS3. Should I send it in to Sony, or should I fix it myself?

I know, Necro'd, but It seemed better than creating a new thread.

Do it yourself. Unless you want to pay Sony $150 for something that can (theoretically) cost nothing to repair on your own. Assuming it's not bad enough to need a reball anyway.

Basically just follow a YLOD guide (personally like the iFixit version, since it's really a step-by-step guide + the video). If nothing else and the fix fails for some reason, you can see how the thing looks like from the inside :P
