Hi ! Could you please give me a hint, recommendation ?

I´m just watching out for a cheap, old PS3 to buy and transfer certain games to a PSV.
There is a CECHA01 for a reasonable price but the seller says it is stuck in the update process and the optical drive is missing. But he claims this could be solve software-wise...

Is it true ? How difficult would it be to get this machine working w/o optical drive? What would have to be done? Any tutorial anywhere ?

Thanks for any helpful response ...
appreciation...

It's possible to fix, however, you'll have to downgrade it by hardware which requires a lot of soldering.

Out of ease, I'd say get a cheapo early slim or late Phat PS3.
It's just not worth the time and effort (and money) to fix that old thing.

Oh thank you so much... Thank you... Will do that... !!

I've got no clue what the going rates are for them but I suspect they won't come above 100.
I highly recommend putting CFW on the PS3 (or purchase games for it, whatever floats your goat)
The PS3 it self is an awesome console with many good exclusives.
Besides, with a CFW PS3, you can remoteplay more PS3 titles on the Vita.
