I recently (within the last six months) got a PS3 slim.

I updated to the latest OFW and swapped out the drive for a 1TB one.

To my disappointment, this console completely locks up (i.e. hangs on whatever screen it's on and has to be unplugged from the mains power to do anything) quite often. It hung once in Darksiders, a couple of times on the main menu, and almost every time whenever I try to download games from PSN.

Is this an issue everyone has or is it potentially an issue with this specific console? I expected a way less buggy experience from a 7 year old console. This has really made me lose faith in Sony (especially with the 4.45 update recently bricking a lot of consoles) and leaves me wondering why so many people are ready to jump on the PS4.

Just a heads up for anyone else:

From members on other sites, I have been told that this is just the way it is. This has nothing to do with my console in particular, it's just buggy software from Sony.

Not sure why everyone is so pumped to buy a PS4 when the PS3 is still seriously broken 7 years down the line.

PS3 locking up is not usual. Is that PS3 still under warranty?

If it is, RMA it. If not, sounds like an overheat. Does it feel hot?
