PS1/2 PS3 Japan / American Version

Hi, any1 here have a PS3 "Japanese" version ? I wanna confirm if a Jap version is exactly the same as an american one... Atm im living in Japan till february, and Wanna buy it... but really wanna make sure that is the same.

Hope someone can answer, Thanks in advance.

Kinda. THe O and X buttons are swapped for menus and stuff.

For JPN consoles, O is select, while X is cancel

For US consoles, O is cancel, while X is select.

They're not exactly the same, but there's really no difference in terms of gameplay and video.
Both Japan and the US are NTSC and both PS3's are region free (for games).

So in other words is the same to have a JP or an USA version... I could wait till I get back to buy one.. but wanna try to put my hands over a FFXIII Budle, but wanna make sure that everything will be ok when I get back...

Well, actually the PS3 it self isn't region free, the PS3 games are. The PS3 won't play any region DVDs, PS2/1(if your PS3 supports them) games, Blu-rays, etc if its not from the region where you bought the PS3.

To add on top of what people said,
some online contents are IP region locked (meaning you need to connect to PSN with a certain region's IP regardless of the console's region)

And some games button mapping will follow your console's region instead of the game's region.
I have a Japanese game that's maps X to OK and O to cancel when played on western consoles, Canadian for example.
