Hacking PS3 hacking

Hello. I'm beginner and I need your help.
My friend gives me a PS3 Fat and the Model No is CECHL04 PAL with firmware 4.85.
I want to hack PS3. I'm looking for tutorial and I don't understand someone things. For example, what are cfw, hfw, han, hen, flash writer, flash dumper, NAND, NOR? Also, what are the different Jailbreak vs Homebrew, CFW vs HFW, han vs hen, flash writer vs flash dumper, NAND vs NOR?

You can put Rebug lite 4.85 on it for your CFW (custom firmware). It will require installing the hfw (hybrid firmware) from the recovery menu before you exploit it.
You will use the flash dumper to dump the nor memory from the console to save it. Then use the flash writer to hack the console. It actually pretty easy after you do it a couple times.

Since this is somewhat related, I'm on Cobra CEX 4.48.2
Would it be sensible to update to 4.85.1 right now to use PSN or is that current version of Rebug not currently reccomended?

you'll be fine. you just won't have access to dex features until 4.85 rex is released.
