Gaming PS3 Firmware v3.55 Released

I just tested both methods and they both work perfectly. I'm able to access the store and all features of PSN. I'm sticking with the first method so I don't need to have LG5Tool open at all times, but it's nice to have a backup in case the DNS method fails.

I'm on a non-jailbroken 3.50, I hope to stay this way until I can finally downgrade and jailbreak.

Internet Connection says Failed when im using the DNS Method.
Any ideas?

Not sure, check your settings is all I can say really. I left the secondary DNS blank (0.0.0.0) if that makes any difference. I'm on the official 3.50 firmware, haven't jailbroken or downgraded, so it should work for anyone else. It's only a matter of time until Sony catches on, but for now it's still working.

It now prompts to update, is it the 3.50 spoof that is not working?

I read (ps3hax and gxmod) that the PSN access with the DNS method isn't working for everyone. It seems to depend on the console region.
I'm using PAL (region 85), and it's NOT working with fw3.41.
It needs at least PAL fw3.50

Though, when using the Spoof3.50, the region goes to 82 (debug/Japanese) on top of 85, and it's working fine now.

Yeah. I can confirm that it is working on my AUS PS3 Phat. Takes a few times to work though which is odd.

The first few times I tried it with the DNS it said it needed a firmware update.
I then turned off the PS3 from the back (Phat) and then tried again, and it connected to PSN no problem. I just tried it now and it went straight through to PSN so I'm not sure why it was stuffing up before.

You need either a payload based on PL3 or Hermes, with the Spoof3.50.

• PL3 at least from 12 nov. 2010 (the first one from 11 nov is not good).
or
• Hermes version "Xoeo" or "Spoof3.50 fix" if you find it.

PL3 is enough, but don't have root access privilege.
There are PL3 "dev" with more file access, and "PL3 NOUNAUTH" for full root access.

If you use a rockbox device, look here.
I didn't keep a list for all other devices.

I guess you have to search for a PSFreedom payload for your device.

I'm not very well informed about the PSFreedom development

I don't know how to install/use PSF, sorry

I let you do some search by yourself.


PS : attention, there are also payload to put the console in Service Mode (allowing Downgrade). Don't use the service mode payload of you only need a debug mode to play homebrew/backup.
edit : or maybe it's all in the same image, and you have menus to select which mode you want to boot into ?

yea usng that recovery on the N1, found the payload so whats needed to be editied on the ps3 to go online? (the dns bit)

ok confused here now lol, to bypass the updating and go on psn does the console have to be on 3.50? or is the 3.41 console spoofed to 3.50 and the dns trick needs to be done?

is it working for you now on 3.41 (spoofed to 3.50?)
also why aint there a spoof for 3.55?

Just tried it. It still works.

Ganon, make sure your on 3.50 and try again. I kept getting a popup saying to update but I turned the PS3 off and tried again after a few minutes and it started working.

I'm with you, good they did another update. I like using my netflix and psn as well, so I'll update since I'm not a mooch it won't hurt me.

real 3.55
prior to 3.50 + Spoof3.50
prior to 3.50 + Spoof3.55 (nobody compiled it yet I guess)

* default_payload_3_41.bin : The default PL3 payload. It only gives Files Access to the current game folder you are playing/launching. It doesn't have Peek and Poke either.
* payload_dev_3_41.bin : It adds just Peek and Poke, like Hermes payload did. Usually only useful for developers

If you dumped/transfered a games using Hermes or "no_unauth" version, and then boot the PS3 using another payload then you will have backup launching problem, because the read/write access is not correctly set.
There's a homebrew to launch which fix the files access right.

If you care for the security, use the default one. (it will prevent running virus homebrew which delete files etc.)
Else, use the no_unauth.
