I would like to jailbreak PS3 but it only has 111 GB of storage, so is it possible to use external hard drive to download and install games on?

That's sad to hear, I for wait until I can buy drive for PS3. Thank you for answer my question.
I don't know about downloading to, if you psn or one of those piracy stores, but you can use an external hdd for those titles. the problem is that it only works with fat32, and it's very slow to install pkgs to (like an hour or longer for a large one). it's called game data tool. an alternative is to use psn liberator, which just requires the game and its rap and klicense (there's a database for this), but it's not compatible with all games. iso games are no problem though as they can be on ntfs. only ps2 games must be on the internal hdd. if using hen, you have to use ps2 classics since lv2 is unloaded with a special version of it for ps2 mode.

theoretically, downloading problem to an external hdd from psn probably works since game is remapped to gamei (put your games in here if using gamedata tool). if you mean ftp, you can use it directly to an external hdd, no problem.

Can I use on of these on PS3? What about PS2?
