Uber sorry about my double post, you can delete the last one if you want, but after you install the Freemcboot, can you just pop in the burned disk? Or do you need to make like a swapmagic and boot the loader and then use a menu option or something that says "boot disk"? Sorry, kinda a noob at this crap XD

FMCB has been updated to v1.8b. You can get it here if you like.
Here is a set of tutorials if anyone would like it for reference. And here is an updated video tutorial.

And pizzaroo, with the latest version I think it automatically runs esr when you insert a disc in the drive or select it from the ps2 browser, which boots the burnt disc.

Thanks man! Time to test out my backup japan game!

Two questions

1. What did they change in FMCB from 1.7 to 1.8?
2. Does FMCB offer a higher percentage rate of compatibility with PS2 games than Swap Magic?

free mcboot is a homebrew launcher
doesnt boot burned games

when combined with things like ESR, HD Loader, COGSWAP, and SWAP Magic Coder Elf its now a very good way to run burnt games

free mcboot v1.8

Installer side :

- New GUI, graphics & sounds by Berion.
- Installation now possible on mc slot 1 & 2.

You CAN convert CD games to DVD games but its a pain! Google it.

@EDIT: Yes it is fine. The BOOT.ELF is uLe, so you can run .ELF's without a AR or anything.

And ESR won't boot anything under 1.4GB I think.

Oh that makes sense now! XP

Now I'm downloading Onimusha 3 to test.

So in the modified menu that you get, you pop in the DVD, and press "Launch disk" right?

ESR patches the games into a DVD-V, which is why you would have to convert them from a CD.

The conversion involves changing the media tags inside the .exe files of the game for a CD to a DVD. A program like DVD ScanLite will allow you to change those media tags.

I'm not even going to bother... I'll just use a DVD repack or a game that's supposed to be put on a DVD or whatever. I'm good XD

EDIT: should I verify the disk on imgburn? Thanks

One question

If I take the Noobie User Guide route for FMCB v 1.8, can I go back later to configure FMCB with the Advanced User Guide without the need of a USB stick anymore?
