PS1/2 ps2 Rumble not working?!

Hi, everyone!

I noticed that when I play my PlayStation 1 games on my phat PlayStation 2, rumble does not work for the controllers. I have used both the controller that came with the PlayStation 2, and a MadCatz one (the MadCatz one is for both PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2). I have played these games on my PlayStation 1 with the rumble working, (using different controllers, obviously) and I have checked to see that the rumble function is turned on. My PlayStation 2 games don't seem to be working with the rubble function either?

So can anyone help me sort this out? I do not think this is due to a hardware failure inside the PlayStation 2 controllers, because They both don't work, and they used to work perfectly, and are always kept in great condition.

So, you can't get any rumble when you're playing on your PS2?

It seems that you have a hardware failure, but it's in your console. I had the same thing happening because I bought a used PS2. I had to take it apart and solder a wire in place of a burned fuse. Here's the guide:
