Lol, good luck with that...
My Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3Ghz can JUST play KH1FM at full speed, which is a pretty demanding game..

The pentium series is relly old, if you want to play ps2 games either get a pre owned ps2 or buy a new CPU

Actually Kingdom Hearts is one of the better running games. It's not that hard to get it running at fullspeed. I've beaten it on two different PC's, one with an Athlon II x2 @3ghz, and another with a mobile Core i7 ~2.4ghz or so. It's possible to get the game running on weaker systems than these. I managed to get it running at 80-100% speed even on an Athlon II x2 2ghz laptop. If you're having issues reaching fullspeed on a Core 2 Quad @3ghz, it may be something wrong with your settings or your PC, or you may be GPU limited. KH1 works very well, the authors have done a lot of work to get the Square games working nicely on the emulator even on lower spec PC's. Heck, i can get it to run on my current laptop (the mobile i7 one) at perfect speed without even resorting to all the speedhacks (which can break the game anyways).

As for this topic, Pentium 4's are ancient. Good luck getting many games to work well. Again KH1 is one of the lower-requirement games i've tried. I tested it on an old Pentium 4 once and it was very slow. Though a lot of that slowness probably has to do with my lack of a real graphics card at the time (integrated intel one, most likely the culprit). Maybe 2D-based games like Disgaea will work well. You can try to play around with the speedhacks a bit to get games to work faster (they break things sometimes though). You really need a decent dual core processor to get pcsx2 to work really well. But you might be able to get games like Kingdom Hearts to run well enough. Or maybe FFX. Maximo is another i recall getting to work well. If you're wanting decent PS2 emulation, invest in a new CPU or whatever. You'll be glad you did lol, yours is getting ridiculous old. You can find some real deals, even some powerful lower-tier CPU's such as the Core i3 will serve you well.

I've not really noticed any speed differences between versions of pcsx2 lately. I always keep updated with the latest WIP SVN build. EmuCR constantly updates with the newest builds every day or two. You can check them out. I suggest keeping a backup of your memory card save files though somewhere, just in case something happens.

just from a strictly curiosity standpoint how would this stack up?

Intel Core 2 Quad Cpu Q8200 @ 2.33Ghz 2.34Ghz
6Gigs of ram
Windows 7 64 Bit
ATI Radeon HD 6450 1Gig ram

According to wikipedia, this is the recommended requirements:

Windows 7 or Linux 32bit/64bit
CPU: Core 2 Duo 3.2 GHz or Core-i series
GPU: GeForce 8600 GT or better
1GB RAM (2GB if using Windows Vista or Windows 7)

That should handle PS2 emulation well. My build is only:

AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0ghz
5GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 x64
ATI Radeon HD 4200 256mb (This is an onboard video card since I don't have an external one yet)

and I've been able to run pretty much all of the games I tried on it at almost perfect speed with the latest pcsx2 build.
