So what Japanese import slim colors "should I avoid?"

Do I have to solder anything motherboard wise?

On scale of 1-10 how easy is it to mess up?

I wouldn't mind a brand new one Vita

Also does anyone know if remote play still works on modded or lower firmware eg. 3.60 firmware?
(Main reason I bought it was for remote play)

At this point, probably all of them, but Metallic Red, and the Silver one especially, since those are guaranteed 3.61+
No hardmods will allow you to downgrade, so don't bother.
As easy/as hard to mess up as your skill allows
Remote play still works, but only locally (to my knowledge). Needs the Relink module

So I guess now for a plan....

1. Buy Japan import
2. Buy American one
3. Buy a MB and swap it
4. Or wait till FW is outdated/new hack

What should I do?

That's up to you. Here's how I see it:

1. Do your research before buying, you'll do ok.
2. See #1.
3. See #1. This is the cheapest route, but be careful of some shady websites.
4. This is free, but it could take anywhere from a year to years.

Make your decision on how badly you want/need a CFW'd Vita. If you need/want it badly enough and right now, you're gonna have to shell out some cash and do seom research. We can't make the decision for you.
