Hardware PS Vita Charging only when off

Hello i recently got a used Vita 2000 in the mail and as the title says it only charges when off, it used to charge when on but not anymore unfortunately. the charger i have didn't come with the console but rather my friend sent me an amazon link as i was having trouble figuring out which type the vita 2000 uses, it is indeed modded btw i used the vita.hacks.guide to do it!

When charging the orange light comes on for a few minutes then off, is there anything i can do about this?

One of the most problematic parts on a PS Vita (any model) is the battery. I can charge perfectly fine once and then not at all.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and try charging it again?

I Have unless you mean disconnecting the wires as well because in that case i did not

Yes precisely. But doing that involves opening the PS Vita to reach the battery connector.

okay because i noticed when i pulled it out the console didn't turn off, though i unplugged via the battery connector just now like suggested and it charges now when on but i have to angle the console a bit, it's tedious but it's a step forward

A huge step forward actually. It might mean your charging connector is faulty and it need resoldering or replacing.
