i agree with DJtaz also, if it isn't broke, don't fix it!

i haven't ran any comparison programs to compare the quality but i have burned games at 2.4spd forever when i first started working with backups, then reburned at 10spd and can tell a big difference in cutscenes and loading times. using Verbatim DVD-r, IMGburn, and a Lightscribe sata burner.
 
im more like a nds type person so i dont know much about wii but what types of discs do you use to burn wii roms? dvd-rs?
 
I'll respond to this one too: 100% FALSE.

I've burnt lousy quality media (Imation) and good quality (Sony, which I've had the best luck with) at 1x,2x,3x etc. Never had a problem.

This assumes that the disc is actually flat. Discs with even slight warping had a tendency to shatter in the 52x drives.
