Just re-hacked my Wii U to install Tiramisu on it, and hacked the vWii on it as well. I did this to get Project+ (Smash Brawl mod) to run on it, however the video guide made by the Project+ team doesn't specify if there is any specific steps in order to get it to work on the vWii. I'm using a PAL system with only an NTSC ISO of Brawl so I can only use the USB Loader method (I think. Unless there's another method that can work).

Edit: Should also mention that I followed the guide from wiiu.hacks.guide to hack my Wii U and vWii.

How about you use your actual Brawl disc instead of an ISO, just extract Project+ to the root of the SD, launch the Homebrew Channel then run the Project+ Launcher.

You can, but you need an usb and a SD card, i play with both. need to set ocarina too

Good news: I got it to work!

I followed this guide from r/SSBPM on installing and running Project+ via USB Loader GX. For those who want the guide but are too lazy to open the link, here you go:
  1. Download the Wii (Offline) build of Project+.
  2. Extract it with 7zip or something, dunno just get it extracted.
  3. Copy only the Project+ folder to your SD card, don't worry about apps and stuff.
  4. Once it's copied, you need to copy some files out of the Project+ folder... This is the most important step to get it working properly.
  5. Copy gc.txt from the Project+ folder to the root of your SD Card and rename it to gameconfig.txt
  6. Create a folder called codes in your SD card root
  7. Copy RSBE01.GCT from the project+ folder to the codes folder. Move onto next step. If later project+ doesnt start: try rename the file extension to lowercase gct. (on Windows this is strange because it just corrects back to the uppercase version, to work around this, first rename the extension to aaa or something else, then rename it to gct lowercase and it should be fine), this worked for me for some reason
  8. Moving on, make sure your brawl game dump is in wbfs on your fat32 usb drive. You probably already did this. Also, insert your USB to port 0, the closest USB port to the edge of the Wii.
  9. Plug your SD card into your wii, open up USB Loader GX. Go to Brawl > Settings.
  10. Click on game load. Set video mode to "Force NTSC". Set Ocarina to "ON". Set Hooktype to "VBI".
  11. Back out to brawl, start the game!

Sorry, i missread, i was able to play pmex remix, not project+, i guess it's the same at some point but i will try on the night and let you know.

I've tried everything you said in the tutorial but I always get a black screen with a lot of numbers/errors. It must be something in the "ocarina code" (or gct), because the game loads normally without that.

Many years ago I made a Project M 3.6 iso just for the USB Loader. But now I can't figure this out :(

I've used this program before called Brawl Builder.
It makes an ISO of Project M and some other mods. Not every mod works though.

might need to put the gct in txtcodes

Project Plus used to be bootable from USB Loader GX 1271 with the above method, but as of 1281, it's now giving me the following backchain error.

Wonder what was changed between the builds to have it become broken like this now.

On that end, trying to change the custom IOS ends with the game getting odd colors and worse framerate.

Can confirm I have the same back chain error when I followed the method described by OP, anyone knows if there is a way to fix it?

Also tried :

It's working for me on USB LOADER GX 3.0 rev1281. Did all the OP's directions and got a black screen on start. The trick for me was to set Game ISO: Custom, and Custom Game ISO: 250 in the Game load settings. No idea why this worked... Hope this helps!
And still doesn't work for me (tested on a Wii)

I hope there's something explored as a fix, otherwise I have to continue using the older version for the time being. Bummer.

In what way it doesn't work for you? I managed to work out a fix after applying the settings from WiiFlow as suggested by one of the mods in Project Plus's Discord Server:

DOL Video Patch: ALL (Like Video Patch: All on WiiFLow)

VIDTV Patch: ON (VidPatch: ON on Wiiflow)

Custom IOS: 250 (or another CIOS that lets you boot into P+)
