Hacking Problems with R4SDHC

Hi,

I have a problem with my R4, just to be sure it is this one:

With a 4 gig Kingston cart.

Now, I have always used the wrong software but my R4 always worked perfect ! Normally I should of used these software from here: http://www.r4sdhc.com ; but I have always used these: http://www.r4ds.com/ (witch worked fine).

But I couldn't play the latest games anymore... So I found out about YSMenu and tried it but it never worked... It starts, but after loading a game I only have a white screen. I tried to create it manually and with that program, but always the same.

The software from http://www.r4sdhc.com, witch is normally the one made for my R4 does not work with it. It is stuck on the loading screen or I see a black screen.

I could used the software from http://www.r4ds.com/ but then the newest games don't work.

Can someone please help me ?

PS: I know a lot about computers but this is something what I do not know. I even don't know what moonshell exactly is...

What is the website listed on your box?


If the firmware from r4sdhc.com doesn't work on your card you don't have a R4SDHC, you probably have a different clone.

Since you can run the real R4 Firmware, you should be able to run YSMenu.
Get R4YSAuto or a2h's YSMenu Generator and build YSMenu for R4.
I recommend R4YSAuto because even though it takes a bit more to set it up the first time, I've not had any problems with it.


As for Moonshell, it's an media player that can run as firmware on real R4's (and maybe your clone?), M3 Simply (a rebranded R4), and possibly DSTT. It does not support commercial ROM loading, but version 2.06 and earlier can use a loader to run the game directly through YSmenu.

I already tried both multiple times... I always get a blank screen after loading a game (except Dragonball Z :s)

I hate to say this as I am a big believer in making things work to save money, however I would in your situation get a new card. Acekard 2i from http://www.nds-gear.co.uk/ is a safe bet and relatively local to you.

I have the same problem and the same R4sdhc
After format your SD
Use the r4i2.04 firmware of http://www.r4sdhc.com
after install the ysmenu with http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=9002
That's all
All games work fine sometine you need a patched rom ( zelda, mario and luigi2)

Just to be sure:

After format your SD

So I format, paste the files from http://www.r4sdhc.com on my card and followed these steps: http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=9002 . Then I placed these on my card and overwrite the files when asked. But still I have the same problem...

You also said to use the R4i firmware, but isn't the R4 firmware better since I have an DS lite?

Or should I use the firmware from http://www.r4ds.com/ + YSMenu ? (that firmware is the only one that works...)

im not sure why yours wouldnt work as i have the sdhc card as well and am running the newest version from r4sdhc.com i think it was 1.32 and i created my ysmenu with simplyrevcfgng and both work perfectly fine i havent had any problems with it except that my lameboy wont play some games such as mario tennis star wars pod racer and a couple others

my difference is tho from yours is that i have an 8gb card i used to have a 4 however and it still worked just fine

There are literally dozens of different carts named "R4 SDHC". Never assume you have the same kind as someone else based on name alone, because odds are you don't.

CycloDS is a great choice for DS Lite or Phat; if you have a DSi and you want a cart straight away, you could get an Acekard 2i or something.

Hah... i had the same problem with my r4 sdhc "new".
One of the ways is to use the kernel (firmware) from that site:

http://www.r4new.com/download-en.htm

and download:"V1.24 kernel"
It"s 100% working with all games (i never had problems so...).
I tried R4YSauto on my R4 SDHC but i dosen"t work. I always have the message about ttpatch.

You can download a test kernel from http://www.r4ds-ds.com/pages/R4SDHC.COM-Kernel.html . That's a solution for "Loading" Problem.

I don't know the difference between this, but they said its resolved the "Loading" Problem.

I would have to guess that a 'test kernel' is just that... a kernel that they are testing.
It's stable enough for them to release for people to use, but either not stable or tested enough for them to call it an official release.
