I bought Orange Box the week it was launched on Steam and I installed 2 games. Portal and TF2. Unfortunately, I decided to play TF2 first and as such haven't touched Portal until today. Which is where the problem starts since it refuses to load. At first it gave the "this game is not available, please check later" but then I noticed that it wasn't finsihed updating so I let it do so. Unfortunately it's been syuck at 66% for an hour now. Uninstalling and reinstalling Steam doesn't work so I don't know what to do now.

    He means:
Right click on the shortcut, go to properties, change the 'target location' (or something similar) to "c:\whatever\portal.exe" -steam -portal -episodic

^^That only helps if you actually have the game though. So in your situation it won't do anything.
