Hacking Priiloader Public BETA

Let me get this straight... You have not installed R45 and are wondering why the App dol gives you an error message?!?! Are you kidding me?! I can tell you that the Installer works just fine and R45 works very well except for the strange pause I get with Crazy Intro right before it begins... (I mentioned this above but it was ignored). I would suggest installing R45 and THEN running the other dol!!!!!!

Edit: I just tried the Priiloader.dol referenced above and while it is error-free, it doesn't do what I expected which is to show the Priiloader config screen, but rather sends me to my Installed dol (Crazy Intro). I was pretty sure in the last version I tried of this particular forwarder dol that it sent me to the Config screen... But NO errors!

The dol in question is not a forwarder, it's the program that runs when you see the priiloader menus etc...

No ones releasing anything, apart from (open) source code. Anyone can compile & run - that's the whole point of open source. If anything I would suggest it's fixing more problems than being closed source would.... just my opinion...

Yes, this is a public thread with every release being posted in public. That would be called a public release. (If your mind is too dumb to comprehend this then get the fuck out of here)

If these were ever a closed release then no one would know about it until it was fully considered safe. But no, this is a public forum and this thread has been open and updated from the start, with every release posted, with bugs still intact. This shit is UNSAFE.

Linux releases open source code, but they do not do it until all (or the most apparent) of the bugs are worked out that they can find. They do not release a new kernel every other fucking day. No, they test it out like crazy first.

Do you need anymore examples? I could go on for a month about how this is FAIL compared to so many other things out there...even just in the wii world.

If some stupid noob, hell, with this crap it is 20 noobs at a time, can find bugs and get stuck without the system menu then this shit is not safe for PUBLIC BETA'S.

Even with open source, they do not publically release it until the are pretty sure that bugs are gone. This has been full of bugs with EVERY release.

The coders are way too quick to take pride in their slum efforts to not care about everyone else who uses this crap.

This is my first post ever on this thread. Someone needs to step up and tell you guys to stop releasing dangerware. This crap is garbage.

Open source does not mean "Release a new version with just a couple lines of code changed. Release it without fully testing it. Release it when stupid noobs can figure out problems better than I can. Release it just because we want to look like we are doing something good."

I do not know any coding beyond my QBasic days, but I am certainly smart enough to not try this shit even once.

I have seen too many threads pop up because of issues with different versions that have been released. It is pathetic.

This the only way can be fully tested as Daco does not have a wii with a vulnerable boot2. It is a big disclaimer to not use the installer if you do not habe bootmii installed as boot2.

LMAO Thats funny as hell. I must say I very much disagree that this project should not be public..... If such a project is kept under wraps then how is it ever possible to grow beyond it's current state? One or two dev's can only do so much hey. some may have better methods to accomplish the same thing than another and the other way around. when we work togeather we can help improve eachothers code and at the same time recieve constructive help from others.

this is supposed to be brick protection. not a bricking app. there are a lot of apps that have a disclaimer and people just get used to just skipping past it and trusting that nobody would let them use the app if it didnt work right. unfortunately, you cant just blindly trust that the app has been tested and it is safe. if you dont understand what the app is doing and have a way to recover from a brick if that app fails to perform correctly, you better just wait till there are a good amount of people with a similar setup to yours that have confirmed that it works.

i say that if guides are going to suggest to noobs to use priiloader, they should find a stable version and use that one. and people that are guing to use a svn version should realize that with every little change to the code, there is a chance of shit not working right. a svn revision is not the same as the developer saying "here, i tested this on 20 wiis and it is safe". if people are going to compile and share svn revisions, the poor saps using the compiled dol need to be made aware of that

To clarify, I was not installing, I was trying to run the priiloader.dol r45 directly from HBC - as I think this was the recommended way to test?

i.e. I'm not running the installer at all.

I downloaded a pre-compiled version posted by user "bula" a few posts above mine. The link is:

There is no crash dump report, the Wii attempts to display the "System files corrupted" message but the text is incomplete and garbled. It's then hard crashed.

I currently run on a NTSC Wii, 4.1U, Priiloader r32 installed, BootMii IOS.

Where can one get the latest version of PriiLoader?

You have to compile it youself. It is only save to use pre-release priiloader installer files if you have botmii as boot2 as this can brick you. Do not blame me or anyone else.

You just dont get it do you. If they are only SVN's, then dont post them up in this forum. JUST DONT. If you post them up in a forum then guess what, IT IS A PUBLIC RELEASE. Realize it or not. All these revisions are released in public, so durrr, that would be considered a public release.

Although you say this software hasn't bricked anyone....yet (but I have read it has), But it certainly has left people not being able to autoboot the system menu, and then their wiimote won't sync so they are stuck at this stupid screen with a bunch of useless garbage and nothing they can do besides go out and get a GC controller.

Seriously, keep this crap in private until a GOOD release of it. You guys are not helping a single person with this crappy software.

EDIT: also, learn your facts. wiimotes not able to sync is cause libogc does not work with the big red button for syncing and if ppl sync their wii somewhere else they just pooped themselfs. im trying to think of a work around but YOU need to get your facts right thats for sure

People who cannot figure out that BETA in the title is for testing purposes either have not ever been around any product testing, or are just foolish and should not do ANY softmodding on their Wii. I appreciate that there is a thread here for each of the apps I use such as this one, Wii Backup Manager. USBLoader GX, etc.

For the naysayers - If this thread bothers you so much why don't you stop opening it up and following it? YOU are the ones ruining it for everyone else!! It's not the so-called "Bugs," but rather your ranting that is bringing this project down! It is people like you who cause the hard-working coders like Waninkoko to stop working on their projects!!!!

Let me say, I am smart enough to not be a beta tester. My problem is all the noobs using it. I have seen endless amounts of noobs using this since it first got a public beta.

And by the way, I have always praised waninkoko for his efforts. I never once bashed him or anything of the such.

no cause that kills the point of holding reset to boot priiloader dont you think?
you hold reset, it boots priiloader and in that same 0.000001s it notices you are (still) pressing reset and boots system menu.

its an opening for issues.

what if u use power and eject to navigate and select in the priiloader menu, that way holding reset will not interfere with launching priiloader
