Actually it's r17 of devkitppc, but that does not change the statement.

Is anybody having any luck with this? i've done a complete uninstall and nand clean. still a no go.

i've reinstalled rev4 and it's working fine

***edit***
also, i've got BootMii as boot2 so i'm willing to test anything you put out.

1+ waiting for more beta testers, since I have bootmii installed as ios

Seems promising though. Thank you very much for your time

So, i confused did the installer.dol that Daco released no work? I don't have bootmii installed so I can't take any chances if this doesn't work. Also last time I spoke with phpgeek he had assured me that in the next release (r5) the code that would allow installing homebrew files from the usbdevice would be added back in. He had said that he removed it in order to make the sdhc better compatibility. I've been waiting for this for awhile since I run all my homebrew from usbdevice and not sd card. I'd like to use my forwarders again to I don't have to keep installing the actual dol file every time a new release comes out.

rev4 continues to work fine

Hi guys. just thought I'd better report in and tell you how this is shaping up (in terms of bugs).

Installation worked perfectly (using "su" function in cIOSCORP)
Boots properly to System Menu
Boots properly to Homebrew Channel (JODI)
BootMii IOS produces a code dump
Load/Install File also produces a code dump
Systemmenu Hacks flashes up a "Couldn't find hacks.ini" message, even though they are on the SD card

It's a shame that there's all these bugs, because this is the only version of preloader I have used that actually fixes endless disc spin.

dont worry that why BETA is in capitals

Couple of questions:

1) Aren't a lot of the changes listed in the OP for this version already implemented in 0.30 Phpgeek edition Rev4 or maybe its being compared to another "official" version 0.30?

2) I requested this in another thread, but can Auto-update be re-implemented (like USB-Loader GX) so that we can stay up-to-date with all the frequent revisions?

Quoting Daco's first msg

"and i have been thinking about re-adding a update method but that requires me to learn http parsing which could take a while"

Well brkirch, the guy behind the latest Gecko OS, noticed some error and uses the old libogc for Gecko OS because of that. When i compiled Gecko OS with the latest libogc, some games(retail games, no patched IOS) were not working.

Also i have that great issue: When i compiled BlueDump with the new libogc, it created a wad file on sd card, my pc could not read(!). And yes, i could reproduce it and with old libogc i could read the file.

The bug is not in libogc but in the way application access (read/write) files.
I've read on #wiidev that, in devkitPPC r18, I/O access aren't buffered anymore, which means you can't do that anymore:
QUOTEfread(buffer,1,VERY_BIG_SIZE,fp)
fwrite(buffer,1,VERY_BIG_SIZE,fp)

but rather use buffered chunks of smaller size and a read (write) loop

What is the difference between this and cIOSCORP?? I was told that Preloader region frees the Wii's Disc Channel.

Is it the same, in that it replaces most genuine IOSes with cIOS or modified IOSes? I was going to say "rips the guts out" but I have never used this (nor cIOSCORP) and that might be a bit harsh.

Basically, it want to try and region free the Disc Channel. I had this mad idea of getting IOS70, trucha signing it and region freeing it with ww_packer and then installing it. Even though I have a NAND backup of my current system, I'm too much of a pussy to try it.
