Why it is running under ios 249 ?

Please, can you try rev 3.59.1 on google code ?

Hi stfour, yes real NAND channels now appear ok under cIOS 249.

Quick question - postloaders3 ALWAYS runs under cIOS 249 when launched from the postloader forwarder in my system menu, it only runs under IOS 58 (AHPBROT) when launched from the Homebrew Channel. Is there something wrong with this? How do I get the forwarder to not cause it to run under 249? I'm using the new forwarder you uploaded a couple of days ago and completely deleted all config prior to using 2.59.

I've just noticed something else which isn't a bug, more of a design feature...

When you boot into priibootergui via priiloader there is an option to launch NEEK. This appears to invoke bootmii/armboot.bin. Is it worth looking first for the presence of bootmiineek/armboot.bin as built by ModMii and launching this instead if found? This way you could have both bootmii and neek available in parallel without messing around with changing the contents of the bootmii folder on your SD card. If pribootergui found both folders present then you could even give an additional option to launch bootmii within your gui as well as the existing options. Alternativley if you don't wish to change your functionality then it would make more sense for the launch neek option to be renamed to launch bootmii. Users who know enough to understand that they have replaced bootmii/armboot.bin with the neek launcher armboot.bin will still know to select this option but it won't be confusing for others who may expect neek but get bootmii.

Finally, I don't know if the priibootergui.dol has restrictions but maybe you could even implement the nboot.dol or nswitch.dol code from neek2o to call sneek/kernel.bin directly if a user selects neek from the menu. This would do away with using armboot.bin altogether. Maybe that isn't possible at your point in the boot process, I don't really understand how this all works technically!

I hope some of that makes sense.

I have another suggestion (if it's not already implemented, haven't found something like this yet) for postloader. would it be possible to add a function to rescan the devices after postloader hast started? The reason I ask is because I sometimes forget to switch on my hdd or put the sd card into the wii and have to restart postloader, which is a bit troublesome

It's perfectly possible to add the nswitch sources to priibooter_gui.
It has the armboot.bin embedded in the dol, so it doesn't need to load it from the sd card bootmii folder.
It also loads the kernel.bin directly from the usb drive in case of uneek2o, so there is no need for the uneek kernel.bin on the sd card sneek folder.

I have such a version based upon the older priibooter. If you would like to play with it, just send me a pm.

Why ? Working with 58+AHPBROT is a critical requirement for a good number of homebrews... and there is absolutely no advantage (speed, for example) from postLoader point of view on using cIOS...

I can see that it might be advantageous to be running under a cIOS for when launching Wiiware from emulated NAND? Presumably these need some of the cIOS features and not just AHPBROT? Could this be worked around by being able to mass change the IOS from 'IOS: Default' to 'IOS: 249', say, in a menu much like you are now able to change the default game launcher? Once this has been done then pl3 would work under 58 with all its benefits but Wiiware would still be one-click launching without having to remember to change individual settings.

EDIT: Or you could add an tag the the meta.xml for those who want to load into a specific cIOS. Or add both features...

1) IOS58 doesn't always detect my HDD.
2) I see no advantage to switching to AHBPROT.

postLoader need AHBPROT to pass AHBPROT to executed homebrew, if they require it. And it uses on the fly memory patch to have full rights on the real nand for browsing. This can be done also with 202 or any d2x, but then I will no more able to enable AHBPROT for homebrews
