It does seem that way. I don't have a disc version so I can't test that, sorry. Are you using the text file I posted or are you poking the addresses manually? If you're using the text file, try doing it manually and see if that works, since it's also possible that the materials codes are breaking it, even if I didn't have a problem with them. If not, the proper address for the disc version shouldn't be very far off. If you just look around in the memory for how many rupees you have in hex you should find it.

here for the 1.6.1 USA Disc version have the exact same address in 1.7.0 eShop version. But, you should be careful if you use them in a recheats.txt file because if you use them outside of a battle, it will freeze the game.
I just wrote a simple python script and assigned a button on my keyboard to run it whenever I press the button which worked out fine.
