My hope was that somehow Nicksasa's app used this exploit to read/write to the NAND (that's why I asked him if he used ES_Identify) but obviously I was wrong and he didn't realize that he was using it.

I dont know if FSToolbox uses ES_Identify, but I got Error! ES_Identify (ret=-1017) once I load it on my LU64+.
Well then I guess it does use ES _Identify after all

Yes, and the output "Informing the Wii that I am God" is also an indication. Disappointing but not surprising I guess.

And just to be clear this is not an LU64+ issue, it is a 3.4+ issue.

All we can hope for is that someone else discovers the exploit that comex and TT use and makes an app that could install a cIOS or something. Also we have to hope that comex's bug isn't fixed in a future update so the trucha bug survives.

BootMii IOS --> cBoot2 seems like a more likely path at this point.

If you couldn't install BootMii-boot2, how could you install cboot2?

Or do you mean running cboot2 in BootMii-IOS without installing it? That would be cool...

Sweet. I browsed the thread and it looks like once it's matured it'll be a great solution.

Actually the only problem i see now is, that BootMii IOS can't be installed on LU64+ Wiis yet. But the next version will. Until then WiiGator might have updated cBoot2(even if it's already great).

Indeed.

Also, will people who use this method have to go into the HBC, then BootMii, then cboot2 every time they want to play backups? Or will forwarders manage to pull that off somehow?

When you are able to run every IOS you want, guess if you are able to install a permanent cIOS.

Thinking it over more, my guess is that you'd be able to install it since the IOS running off of BootMii is trucha-signed and so the Wii will be happy to install stuff from Wad Manager.
