GCN Possibility? Super Monkey Ball 1/2 Stage editor/ing.

Lately, I've been looking the rom files for SMB1/2 for a way to make a stage editor or in general just editing the stages. I've only seen one person getting this down with a HEX editor. Is the this game just so obscure, people won't mess with it, or is it a bit too secure? I'm actually really interested in help making a stage editing method for this game. I would need the help from a more technical person than me; obviously. Anyone want to assist me in this project?

ya its possible now just search "super monkey ball custom levels" on youtube, theres even some tutorials.
