Gaming Pokemon x, y promotion question

Hello everyone,

I have just recently bought two club Nintendo codes from a member on these forums in order to redeem the pokemon x/y promotion code. I was just wondering, I have the code, but it is unused and I intend to not use it until/if gateway 2.0 comes out. If 2.0 gateway comes out, I would like to trade my code with my friend for his yoshis island 3ds code and play pokemon x on gateway and benefit both ways in the end. My question is, can I hold on to the code and redeem it whenever I want, maybe next month or so?I ask this because I am waiting to see if the stupid 2.0 final will come out. I am also asking in case after march31st, nintendo will not allow promotion codes to be downloaded or can i still do so? If the promotion code will work after march even though i didnt use it yet, then I will hold on to it, this is all i need to know right now.

You can play Yoshis New Island on the Gateway as well, which I'd rather do if I were you since online won't work on the Gateway.
The X/Y code might have an expiry date on it, you should've been informed of that when you got the code. If there was no mention of an expiry date then you can probably hold on to it for as long as you want.

Great! So ill just download the code and make use of it then. Just the stupid beta 2 is freaking me out, havent used it in months after the bricking fiasco and b1 is unstable (never used b1 before because of its reported instability.) but thanks.

b1 is a bit of a hassle, but the saving bug can be worked around by just starting the game back up and closing it again a couple of times until it works. Sometimes GW mode fails to load on b1 but I hear it takes much longer to load on b2, I'm not sure which is slower in the end.
