ROM Hack Pokemon RocketRed Thread

I've uploaded Pokemon RocketRed v02-1.

Changes made since v02:
- FireRed logo changed to RocketRed.
- Fixed up little bugs in Pallet Town.
- Fixed up alot of mapping errors made in both Pallet Town and Route 1.
- Also just updated and fixed a few little unnoticeable stuff.

v02-1 allows you to reach right to the end of Route 1 (or the beggining of Viridian City).

I do stress that everyone give it a go. Expecially if you're a Pokemon fan. All you need is a GBA emulator for your PC, PSP etc. You can also play this on your DS using EZ Flash V 3 in 1.

From Testing your new game i picked up some things

I dont know if this bothers you or not but when you recieve your pokemon, You actually stand on the table while "Toru" Does not, They could both move equal distance? Im just nit picking for you!

After you complete your battle with "Toru" then talk to Giovanni again, his name is OAK.

Where the rocks used to be in pallet town blocking the river is now un walkable on! =O (Invisible wall)

When you talk to Red's Mom after obtaining your pokemon, She first says nothing, then heals you, and tells you to look after your pokemon? Wouldnt she be angry cause you obliterated her town? XD Maybe you could change the dialog to something like you forcing her to heal them or something?

When you talk to Girl Rocket grunt in Viridian, Shes give you the Snubble , but you get no prompt to be told you have obtained it... like.... "You obtain Snubble"

I love the Addition of YOU as a sprite in game XD, you should add me XD pleeeeeeeeease XD
Anyways, Its looking good!

Thanks for all the feedback! I fixed verything mentioned except for what the female grunt says when she gives you snubble. I still need to get a few things done before I changed what she says.

I'd love to add you, but I don't really even want myself in the game LOL. I'm only in there to tell why the area is blocked off. I will dissapear in the game once the area is open again.

Anyway, as mentioned, I have fixed the above issues and have released Pokemon RocketRed v02-2. Here is what has been done since last release:

- Fixed the invsible fence in Pallet Town
- Fixed minor problem when recieving starter Pokemon.
- Fixed what Giovanni says after first battle.
- Fixed little bugs in Prof. Oak's Lab
- Fixed what Red's Mum says's before battle.
- Changed slight grammar error with what grunt says in Route 1

Yes! It helped out alot. In your previous feedback, I really had to go looking for it all the time and sometimes it took alot of time. Now that you showed me some images of the bugs, I easily got them fixed. I think it only took me 25min to fix all the bugs in the previous version of Pokemon RocketRed.

BTW, a weird thing popped into my head last night and I all of a sudden got an idea of maybe hacking 2 games at once; Which all involve being bad guys. For example, I could make a hack of Ruby version titled MagmaRuby and the one I'm doing at the moment, RocketRed. This would of course make the progress of RocketRed slower, so I havn't really done anything. What do you think of the idea? I for some reason have a hunger to do multihacks LOL

It actually sounds really good, I mean, we could work on the name of it, but it does sound like a good idea. i would love playing as team magma, also i have a idea for gym leaders in RocketRed, If you want to hear about it?

I was thinking there'd be alot less pressure on making the MagmaRuby, and I'd get a few members from here and other sites I'm on to help me out. For example, people that have a good story plot and poeple that have little or alot of experience at doing hacks. Od course, you would play as Team Magma

I have also been thinking of a Gym Leader idea. I was thinking Gym's could instead be replaced as a place where you battle Team Rocket Admins. If you win, you gain level in your Team Rocket Participation.

Also, I've had many ideas on how to use the former Gym Leaders in the game. Maybe use them as a way to fight against the spread of team Rocket through the game.

Anyway, I'd love to hear your idea for Gym Leaders in RocketRed.

I just Thesaurused a few words to get a better title for MagmaRuby, Come Back with Recalescent Ruby which means Hot, Cause you know... magma? hot? XDD or even something like Raging Ruby

Anyways, My idea is similar to you, Rocket 'Admins' Steal the Gym leaders pokemon, and you must beat them for a Promotion, Which also can tie in the elite 4, The elite 4 is the Head honcho guys who are the top 4 best , and Giovanni as the League Champ? and your rival as toru at the end? Cause you wanna be the best rocket guy in the world! XD

I like your idea about the Gym Leaders and especially the Elite 4. I'll think more about Gym Leaders when I get to Pewter City. At the moment I'm still working on Viridian City and eventually Viridian Forest (Where I'd like to do something awesome there.).

Ive always had a deep hate for ROM Hacks because they are the same just with a slight change and just a bit of innovation. But this hack would be really something I would play! Keep the developing on, this really looks AWESOME!

Yes, the project is still very alive. I've just a had a busy few days and Viridian City is larger then I thought LOL.

I'm hoping to have a big update in the next 24 hours.

Wow. The whole thing looks brilliant, and while I'm not going to be playing until you complete the first gym (I am intrigued into how you will carry that out), I think you are doing an amazing job.

I just wanted to apoligize to everyone for not releasing a new version as promised.

I've just been busy doing a few things, and Viridian City is a large town that consists of many events. I can say that the hack is coming along very well, and the next version will have a lot more things in it.

The next version will go straight to version 3. So yes, big update!

I've got some real bad news for anyone that was excited about the next release of Pokemon RocketRed. As of right now, my work on Pokemon RocketRed will completely stop.

About an hour ago, I was actually very close to releasing a new update to the game, until I noticed all the massive glitches I had created later in the game.

I found all the glitches and bugs I had made were unable to be fixed, and ultimately ruined my progress in the hack. I'm very dissapointed this happened, as only a few hours ago, I was very happy with my progression in the hack. I may release what I had finished, just so anyone that wants to continue the hack for themselves or just wants to play whatever I left. Thanks for everyone that gave me the motivation to do this hack.

In the future, I may continue this hack from version v02-2. But right now I'm a bit angry and sad that a few glitches could ruin the whole progress I had in the hack.
