It's most likely BS- if he worked for them he wouldnt be telling total strangers anything about it at all..even that its incredibly hard to crack because there are many lines of code. Besides, I very much doubt nintendo have suddenly worked 1000x harder to make anti piracy work. Every time a big game comes out everyone assumes the piracy will be uncrackable because nintendo have gone that one step further, and they never do. Chances are 90% of the people who download the game arent hardcore fans and wont buy it if they cant play it for free anyway, and nintendo knows this, so why waste that much time and resources making it so protected?

Because if Nintendo didn't do any effort to AP the game, then developers would not release games on Nintendo consoles since it would be cracked too easily.
If you were a developer, would you like to release a game on a platform that everybody can hack and use for free so that you will get no sales? ^^

compared the arm9.bin

I'm curious about this..Looking at the two, it seems like they would be almost be identical in some ways, but large chunks of the coding is missing. Is there a way to add the coding that's in the (J) arm9 to the (u) one, or would that take too long?

Edit: Basically like, 'fill in the blanks'.

if you look at the left side, the numbers and so on in gray, they are completely different

I know that, my point is aimed at those who are saying nintendo have won and this will not be crackable. Theyve NEVER made a game that could not be cracked. Probably because they actually know that some of their profit comes from downloads ultimately because people like to try before they buy

now that we have all the english text the guys that were translating the Jap version can use all the text that the US version have, so they dont have to translate, just substitute the Texts.

Game's out guys. I just picked up my copy of SoulSilver.

Should I dump/check my copy to see if the "Nintendo leaked a defective rom" story was true?

We do not support the dumping and spreading of ROMs for it is illegal, please do not do it.

Don't.

Or do it reaaaally anonymously. Or face a bill like the australian guy.
So, just try it yourself, and report back. Don't put anything on the interwebs.

I guess we all can say this though..

Nintendo is a corporation but they're trying to take on an army.

We shall prevail!

Yes, dump it and go the route of the last person who said he dumped the game. Kongnutz, I think it was.

Anything would be better than nothing. I doubt they leaked a 'defective' rom anyway. Some flashcards seems to be ok with it.

    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

    At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    @SylverReZ,
    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
