Emulation pokemon fire red sav problem

hey guys, quick question here

I have a VBA emu (1.72) that can't seem to save to flash 128.

this is reqiured for pokemon games. it all of a sudden just started acting up

anyone have a sure fire soultion? I've tried a new emu, a new rom, setting the card to flash as well as flash 128.... I get nothing... it can't save to 128.

help would be great
