so I am looking for if you can or could link a 3ds playing Pokémon red, and a emulator playing blue, what would I need for them to be able to link together? would I need to use a 3ds emulator?
I don't think there's any emulator on 3DS that allows cable link.
It's even rare on PC, the only one that i remember having support for it os TGB dual, although it's been years others probbaly have support by now too. But on PC. Not 3DS

There was one. visual boy advance 1.8.0 beta3 which allowed a local host and up to 4 vba's running and connecting. Although at this point. its been years since ive used that program.

i believe there was a fork of VBA called something obvious like VBA-link, and it had cable link capabilities. But again, for PC. What you said is not for 3DS right? never heard of VBA on 3ds, but i might've missed it..

ya. that was my bad on that. it is a pc only program for it. Which op taking his save and moving it to a emu while linked with a emu both on pc will likely be the only way to go. and then reinjecting save after they done.
