Quietly released this morning by The Pokemon Company was Pokemon Duel, a mobile game which originally released in Japan last year as Pokemon Comaster. The game is a sort of mix of a traditional card game and a board game, featuring the classic Pokemon critters. It's a free to play title, and there are, of course in app purchases. It's available right now for iOS and Android.

Build your party of Pokémon figures and play against your friends in Pokémon Duel, free to download for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices! In Pokémon Duel, your objective is to deploy your Pokémon figures on the game board and move them to the goal in your opponent's territory. To win the game, you have to reach your goal before your opponent reaches theirs!

This actually makes me hopeful for an out-of-nowhere release of the new Pokemon Bank. This morning news about some features of the update came about and now you can trade over transfer mons. At the same time, there's only 7 more days this month and they promised an end-of-January release, so regardless, it's coming soon. As for this, meh, good for phone game users? Doesn't interest me.

geo restrictions do suck indeed, but to be fair
1) we start with version 3.0.0, so it must have been released in japan a while back. like always in video games and stuff, every other country is a bit late to the party
2) you arent in 'murica, japan, etc. your all in europe. EU is a seperate gaming division thing.

prolly not. just depends on where you are.

because we have to stop and realize it clearly states
"now available in english"
we just got english, and no mention of other languages besides japanese, so it would make no sense to release it in a place like germany, or france with no german or french language setting.

(just an analogy, i know french is alot like spanish)

dont be surprised either. its called pokemon duel, so i expected some kind of battle-based pokemon game, but its just a board game. google search pokemon duel gameplay, and youll see what i mean.

Thanks for the heads up. I thought this game looked fun when the Japanese version was announced. Now I finally have a chance to play it. I love it when video games incorporate board game aesthetics and/or gameplay, like Dragonball Z Budokai 2's overmap. Damnit, now I wanna replay it... thanks a lot, Chary.
