Gaming Pokemon Battle Royal - online play question

Just wondering, if you were to play PBR online with a modded wii using a back-up copy of the game....is there potential for this bricking the wii...

In other words, will the Wii "call home" and be able to detect that you're running a back-up via a modded wii?
