i believe the no EXP AP could possibly be the same, and just in a different location, which is why no JP patches work, or as it seems the likely case, it is completely new code altogether, which is why it doesnt seem easy to find.
if it were the same we'd technically just be able to search that string, or set of strings in the Hex File and replace them like with JP.

tl;dr: diff coding or location for AP so not working JP patches

Let me cover my tracks by saying i dont know how any of this works, nor have i even attempted to look at the game, im just giving my two cents to all those who are asking why the JP patches dont work.

The reason why the JAP AP patch doesn't work on this release is because this is an incomplete dump.... it's missing the DSI content so the rom is smaller which gives you a checksum error when trying to apply the patch... so either someone will make an updated patch for this release or a proper dump... whichever comes first.

It's been a while I've come here and then I decide I would join it...Anyways... this forum helped me with Dragon Quest VI DS and Radiant Historia... I'm one of those with a DSTTi and yes I'm not only waiting for the AP fix but also for YSmenu to update so the error code -4 will be gone!

I tried replacing the entire data/a folder using dsbuff. It white screens after the initial video when it zooms in to show you your house.

Alright, I just got home, and all I can see is flamers and morons. This thread is to simply inform of a anti piracy patch, and any methods and developments on this patch. I will be updating the OP, but for now can we just chill out?
