im on section V following this guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide_RedNAND/wiki/Part-4-(2.1.0-Downgrade)
im backing up my formatted emunand in prep for downgrading and obtaining the OTP w/ OTPhelper...

however im debating if i should scrap all of it and try to follow this new guide i dont understand as well.
in regards to using someone elses nand backup with CTR transfer... i dont know if thats safe.

the outdated guide seems better to me because the current one doesnt detail how to use ctrtransfer or what files go where in downgrading sysnand to 2.1

i started this @11:30pm and now its 3am...
my rxtools and all my games/saves are gone. so theres no going back im gonna figure out how to do this A9lh stuff... somehow...
Yes it does. Did you actually check it out? Let's assume I have a USA 10.3 Old3DS system.
I go to https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki
Then I click -> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Get-Started

Then I click ont he image of the old 3DS. Then I click on the USA flag, which takes me to -> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Get-Started-(Old-3DS-USA)

Then for my assumed 10.3 system, I have a Browser or No Browser option, assuming Browser, it takes me to -> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Homebrew-Launcher-(Browser)
After following all directions there, and because I would need to downgrade to 9.2, it takes me to -> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Downgrade
After following all the steps there, leads me to -> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Decrypt9-(Homebrew-Launcher)

Because I have an Old3DS, I must do the ctr-transfer method, so it tells me to go to -> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/2.1.0-ctrtransfer
Following everything there, finally takes me to -> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Installing-arm9loaderhax

And that's basically it. I am not sure why you are saying it doesn't. Since it does, as shown in the example above.

The old guide is a lot more work. For the ctrtransfer you just need the 2.1 ctrnand backup and decrypt9 which you launch from the homebrew launcher.
The ctrnand backup goes in in the files9 folder on the root of the sd. If that folder doesn't exist, you make it.

You only need those two things for the downgrade.

This is what you should do.
  1. Make sure you can use Decrypt9. You can find out how to do that here: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Get-Started-(Old-3DS-USA)
  2. When you can definitely get into Decrypt9, then follow https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/2.1.0-ctrtransfer
  3. After that, follow https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Installing-arm9loaderhax and follow the optional part to flash your emuNAND to your sysNAND so you'll keep all your games and data.
All together, it won't take you more than an hour.

so i'll start with Decrypt9 part because i already on 9.2 sysnand and already have emunand
what if i like to use A9LH with emunand?

i have another O3DS with A9LH with emunand and i used the old A9LH method.
For whatever crazy reason you don't want sysnand then don't check autoboot sysnand when it says too and don't move emunand when it asks to
After that make sure you restore nandmin.bin to get your 3ds to 9.2 (do this after it ask to move emunand
If this still gives you an error, restore your NAND backup before updating
  • Copy NANDmin.bin to the /files9/ folder on your SD card
  • If your backup is of a version between 4.0.0 and 4.5.0, put firmware.bin in /luma/
  • Open Hourglass9 from arm9loaderhax by holding (Start) on boot
  • Go to "SysNAND Backup/Restore"
  • Restore from NANDmin.bin
  • Press (Start) to reboot
But you really should just use sysnand and save the 1 gb of space for a game you want.

spreading fud is not really helping matters. if people can use one cfw, they can always use another, if there is a reason to.

rxtools allows the sysnand to be kept low, and this is good enough for many people

But it doesn't protect your FIRM partitions, if nintendo somehow make it that you update through system settings and it takes your sysnand to 11.2, you're SoL.
A9LH+Luma prevents this from happening, besides the ability to revive your system from almost every idiotic mistake you can imagine, (except dsiware/arm9 mistakes, but you'd need to be purposely looking for a brick for that to happen).

It would be a damn shame if I didn't already have a thread for that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are better options than RXTools and no reason to keep using it.

just reached to this point

"Clear Home Menu's extdata by navigating to /Nintendo 3DS/(32 Character ID)/(32 Character ID)/extdata/00000000/ on your SD card"
now,the problem i have,there 3 folders,all with 32 Character ID.
i have Sysnand with 3 icons installed (youtube and yokai watch and pokemon picross) only shortcuts not the full download or demos.
i know which one is the emunand because it's the biggest one,but i have one is 5.00 MB and the second is 63.5 MB.
should i delete the 0000008f folder from all the folders? or just the sysnand folders?
