http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/09/ps3-3-40-full-sdk-leaked/

The previous "legal" one was only 50 MB, this illegal one is 2.50 GB (not a typo).
DO NOT post links to download here.

Personally, I'm not 100% sure what this means. Does this mean we'll possibly get a very well working N64/PS1 emulator on PS3 one day?

Duplex sounds familiar. Are they a PC or Wii leak group of some sort?

Don't know about those systems, but they have a lot of PS3 Scene releases. I can say first-hand they make good releases.

this sounds incredibly illegal, does this make anything that's made using this sdk illegal too?
Pirating is illegal too, you know.

yes, yes it is, but that doesn't answer my question

Yes to your question.
I remember when the Xbox 1's SDK was leaked, anything made using it was illegal too. Should be the same case here.

Now, can someone answer my question in the OP? Does this mean we might see good N64 and PS1 emulators eventually on the PS3 now?

Most likely yes, seeing as homebrews is easier made when they have the SDK. But you have to wait atleast half a year as using a new SDK and getting used to it aswell as programming for it takes quite some time.

Woah, shove it up a generation there!

We already have a decent N64 emu on the weak Wii!

Not to mention some guy already said he is in the process of porting Dolphin.

Sorry, bad wording. I meant "Full FPS without odd glitches". Wii64 is not playable on most games I want imo

The original Xbox SDK's leak was one of the best things to happen with the homebrew scene ever - so many ports and awesome apps were made. Lets hope homebrew coders utilize the ps3 to its fullest extent as well.

This SDK is like impossible to extract. It contains 2 different make files "Makefile" and "makefile". Even though the case is different, windows says they are the same file and wants one to overwrite the other.

Extract it on Mac OS X or on Linux, both of which have case sensitive filesystems.

Extract it on Mac OS X or on Linux, both of which have case sensitive filesystems.

you move both into a single folder, select both and hit extract on one of them inside the folder. This shouldn't be no different than extracting multipart rar files.

EDIT. missed the part where u said they try and over rid each other. select the two and choose the same extract location for both. and extract them both at the sametime

Even with the SDK, don't count on it being very great.
My computer's specs WELL surpass the PS3's, and Dolphin runs some games horribly still. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King runs at 3fps average.

Gamecube on the other hand..... AWWW YEEAAAHHHH!!!!
