just managed to buy a switch with 3.0.0 thanks to your forum!
I didn't go online with it yet, because I'm afraid of getting updated...
my question: can I play mario kart against friends online with firmware 3.0.0 or do I need to update to latest firmware to go online?
what do I need to do to play online? create an account?

I bought the mario kart cartridge and I am able to play it without online features

You must've not done much research, you need to be on the latest FW to play online

You will be able to play MK8 but no online.

NOT a chance soon as you try to go online for anything it will ask to update and won't let you continue online until you do.
