Hacking Playing GC Backups

Hey;

I was wondering how to play GC Backups on my Wii;

I know already that it is not possible without WODE;

Do I need a cMIOS or a MIOS patcher to play it off the disc channel or something?

Also, What media should I use? DVD-R and Alcohol 120%?

You will need a older drive, how old is your wii?

DVD-R and Imgburn are fine. Look into Neogamma http://gbatemp.net/t219243-neogamma-r9-beta-test should have everything you need on 1st page
P.S. Making it possible to load from disc channel will make original GC discs unplayable.(well thats how it use to be)

As cobleman said, install the cMIOS and use NeoGamma.
If your drive can play Wii backups, it should play GC ones as well. (Use the same disc format, DVD-R should be fine)

You can use Multigame ISO Creator to put multiple GC games on 1 disc.


The WODE is for playing GC backups from USB.

Use the cMIOS installer you find in the NeoGamma thread, it's more stable and does not disturn GC retail discs in the disc channel.

I just installed a modded version of MIOSv10 w/ WiiGator v0.2

Will test when I burn a game.

If you want to play GC backups, the cheapest way is to get an SD Gecko, and use SD Boot with the Wii Gamecube Homebrew Launcher, then you can play ISOs right off of an SD card.
