IMO, downloading games is only illegal if you try to make money off of them (IE. If I sell a DVD with tons of DS games on it for money.)

Goddamn...who brought this thread back from the dead?

yeah just like someone said, if you really, really enjoy the game, show ur support by buying it. i dont touch 50% of the games that i download after the first try, and i really thank R4 for giving me the oppurtunity to try it out before i buy it. all flash carts really, but at least R4 is really cheap =]

How many people actually know of people who pirate NDS games? I know of maybe... none. I'm the only person. I know me pirating a game isn't going to hurt Nintendo or the developers.

But PSP... That's a different story.

Same here, I personally know nobody else that has ever heard of a flashcart. Hell, I only personally know 1 other person who has homebrew on their PSP.

On the internet, it may seem like most of the DS/PSP community pirate, but in reality, most of the people do not even know it exists.

And for the record, I have 15 retail DS games. I have paid my dues.

I tire of this thread.

Pirate, or don't - nobody's holding a gun to your head.
If you don't like it, don't do it.
If you do do it, don't try and justify it - nobody really either a)believes you or b)gives a shit

I say, "Download like buggery and join me on the slippery slide to Robot Hell"

Piracy is not a crime, it does not harm consumers,
or legitimate evil corporate developers that destroy
our souls with evil tyranny...

You mean downloading ROMs, right? Chinese pirates making clone cartriges harm the company (because they snatch away the consumer willing to buy a game), and the consumer, because you pay for an inferior product, you don't get any kind of support, and they seem to work fine, up until three weeks into a game, when they suddenly decide to drop dead and ruin your save, at which time you understand you didn't get any warranty, can't trade the game in, and are basically screwed. On top of that, merely inserting a clone cartrige into your console voids the console's warranty according to the End User License Agreement.

Next to that, downloading ROMs is nothing

saying that pirating rom is next to nothing is like ... yea i sell heroin to my friends, but big dealers sell to schoolkids.. its equal as bad

Aw come on. 90% of these so-called "pirates" are school kiddies that couldn't afford games in the first place. They wouldn't buy anything anyway. The companies don't lose anything on them. In fact, clueless grandparents (and parents) that know the kid has a Gameboy tend to buy games for Christmas.
