A friend of mine has a Wii that is recently softmodded with the Homebrew Channel on it, but the person who installed it took the sd card with him and went on a trip for a couple of months, so my friend asked me to take over the rest of the softmodding since I have a little experience though the amazing CompleteSoftmodGuide.

What I don't know is if it is necessary to have any software on the sd card to satisfactionally use the Homebrew Channel, and if so, can anyone give me some information on how I can replicate the installation so a fresh sd card is compatible with the current state of his Wii?

HBC is installed entirely to NAND, you dont need anything on an SD card to use it. BUT you need to have your homebrew apps on the SD card.

Awesome, thanks a lot

If you already have the HBC, you can load apps from a USB device too (although I think some apps need the SD card anyway)
