you know what I just realized
back when I took P.E. in high school, all we did was a bunch of activities and that's it
sure, it was good to learn how to do the activities, but we were never taught why we do the activities
so it was less physical "education" (P.E.) and more like physical "maintenance" (P.M.)
same thing in college, I took an online "P.E." course and didn't even do the work, because who's going to know I didn't walk or run or lift every day? maybe in that case I could've paid more attention (and definitely should have), but they could have at least emphasized the reasoning behind physical activity so more sedentary people like myself would get the idea drilled through their thick skulls and be more healthy in the long run
now I'm waking up with back pain because my dumbass didn't walk yesterday or lift all week, instead I sat down and played way too many video games
I know now in my 30s what it really means to be unfit, and feel like I need a major lifestyle change to get my shit together regarding physical health
