you know what I just realized

back when I took P.E. in high school, all we did was a bunch of activities and that's it

sure, it was good to learn how to do the activities, but we were never taught why we do the activities

so it was less physical "education" (P.E.) and more like physical "maintenance" (P.M.)

same thing in college, I took an online "P.E." course and didn't even do the work, because who's going to know I didn't walk or run or lift every day? maybe in that case I could've paid more attention (and definitely should have), but they could have at least emphasized the reasoning behind physical activity so more sedentary people like myself would get the idea drilled through their thick skulls and be more healthy in the long run

now I'm waking up with back pain because my dumbass didn't walk yesterday or lift all week, instead I sat down and played way too many video games

I know now in my 30s what it really means to be unfit, and feel like I need a major lifestyle change to get my shit together regarding physical health

There are still things you can do in the privacy of your home, such as:

Simple Stretching Exercises first, [even on a chair, as I'm now limited to one].
Then the usual [when I was able back then] Running in Place and Jumping Jacks.
Followed by Bends and Thrust.

I did this while nakey, to sweat Naturally, and not by clothing. This did wonders back then in keeping my body toned and ready for any heavy physical lifting, Being fast with running endurance for getting away from life threatening situations.

That is why you should do your own Physical Education. js

I hear you! PE classes never did anything for me in school, it was only later that I found out I liked exercising and started doing things on my own. As I get older and my body wears out, I'm glad that I finally found some regular exercise that I really like, and that I've stuck with.

With the understanding that what may work for me may not work for you, this is what I have found and enjoy:
1. Simple cardio, like walking/running/bicycling. I have had a dog most of my adult life, and taking long walks with intermittent jogging ("Dog, get the fuck back here!" lol) gets me moving. Plus being outdoors helps me mentally (this may not be helpful for people in a city).
2. Body weight exercises...I specifically found Mark Lauren "You are your own gym" program, which is a book on Amazon. You don't need to go to a gym, you don't need much space, and it is hard to hurt yourself just moving your own body weight around. He used to have an inexpensive iPhone/Android app, but now he has moved over to streaming (I guess because it pays a hell of a lot better).
3. Stretching! Warm-up before exercising, and then cool-down and stretch afterward! And once a week, do a long stretching routine, instead of exercising. This helps with pain and stiffness so much. Yoga is not a bad alternative, but some of those routines take a long time.

The final component is eating right, which you will begin to get into the more you exercise. All this takes time...you will have to find ways to carve out 30-60 minutes to get things done. And most of the time, you will feel too tired to exercise, but trust me, you will feel better after you do it. Like everything else, it takes time and multiple attempts to finally get into a regular program.

Good luck!

Really? When I was in school, activities weren't just it for P.E, they taught you stuff related to physical exercise like proper diet and how each muscle in our body works, and there be quizzes about them too

If you need some movement in your life, I say buy one of those stationary cycling bikes, really good for the legs, and maybe get a standing desk too if you think you're sitting too much

thanks for the suggestions, but what I really need is discipline

I already know the stretches and exercises that I'm supposed to do

Public school in generals main focus is to teach you the basics. If you really want to learn physical activity join the army or get a job doing physical work. Retails a good starter point. You're moving around, learning how to take orders from bosses and lifting and moving product. It can actually be a good work out while earning money over the squatting and reaching you'll be doing for 8 hours plus the product in boxes can weigh over 50 pounds.

No worries!

Story time:

-my sibling took loads of drugs [monster drinks]; his heart rate was 100 beats per minute resting; the athleticism was killing him, not helping him (the same as any using drugs for exercise).

-I told him to try to exercise without them when he first left college.

-he said it would tire him out; I said: yes, for one week; you _will_ feel like collapsing at work, and it will be a struggle, but after that week, your cardio with no drugs will result in you having much more energy long-term.

-after years of hospital problems, he finally took my advice; he went from needing sleep the moment he walked in the door at 5 PM until working time in the morning (his life was work, sleep and mental concerns) to being able to go out to arcades until 12:30 AM on workdays and feel plenty of energy each day he came home at 5 PM.

-he began telling his friends the same thing I told him. his heart rate is far better than it ever was before, and most medical visits ceased; his heart problems were gone and his resting heart rate went to around 62 beats per minute, despite him being a decade older.

Never skip your daily warm-up, you can start with this morning exercise basics

then repeat some pattern techniques

for intense training you can use your home resources wisely

as for me I just cycling.

Can I upload videos anywhere here directly? Brief clips; youtube deleted my account because their feelings were hurt too much.

they got so "salty" that you could fill all the fries in the United States fast food restaurants with the amount of "salt" youtube had over them; way too much peanut butter and jelly, without the peanut butter.

Discipline?

Here is how we train:

1 - We never use any profanity whatsoever. The single use of profanity means being forbidden to train for the rest of one's life.

2 - We never misuse our training. This means never use it for personal gain: money, etc. You will notice that every time I use it, even as a joke; my jokes are serious: I am stamping out the uncontrolled and brawling behaviors of the UFC, taking what was meant for ulterior motives in video games, etc., and forcing the devil into a lose-lose situation, etc. My enemy is evil thoughts and temptations, never people.

3 - We are supposed to be fearless: it does not matter if a swarm of yellowjackets came at us; We drive them off and have no fear; this has happened at least twice by surprise.

4 - The most important one by far: controlling our emotions. When most train in shadowboxing or patterns, they are emotionless robots; We are human beings, not robots. We are _meant_ to have emotions, like I did recently when I discovered that a student is not here anymore; they say he took his own life a day ago, so I felt a very large amount of emotion. There will be times in everyone's life when we feel extreme emotions.

If you feel no emotion and act like a robot; you do not feel alive. And yet if you let your emotions fly off the handle, living as a punk who cannot control himself also leads to ruin.

So for us, We feel emotion at the moment of exertion in weightlifting, striking, etc. in patterns, and at that instant, I allow myself to feel the full emotion of when I was angry at students being bullied, or happy when students have Hope.

That same emotion is immediately reeled in once that movement is done; that is how We use self-control; we are not suppressing our emotions, we are not letting our emotions control us; we control our emotions:

I hate the fact that they use terms such as "master" and "grandmaster"; only God is The Master. That said, I know Park Bu Kwang as supreme commander; he was my former instructor, and it was not until 2018 that I finally had what I needed to defeat him.

These patterns were all come up with by him, without the influence of karate, tang soo do, etc.; he just watched his ROK Army cousin do a simple snap kick and punch, and with Faith, defeated their best in 1965, 1966, and 1967 with no belt before the General, Choi Hong Hi, submitted all military authority to him around the time of the South Korean Coup and their subsequent departure from their home country to the United States to evade the dictatorship under President Park Chung Hee.

To this day, the deceased dictator's followers want me dead; I cannot currently step foot in South Korea, and even those in the U.S. who oversee their counterfeits have already expressed the same desire. There is a reason why they wanted our version gone. And I know exactly why: The more Christian We are, the more our version works; it _entirely_ has strength based on our patience to know exactly when and where to feel full emotion and _yet_ have full control over it; "slow to anger".

"He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."

Edit: A Testimony: I have no desire to fight since I know full well how much I am capable of, but like I said, his agents certainly try to kill us on the spot:

Lots of fake-kwon-do out there is insane and hyper-aggressive, like a small dog that barks loudly. UFC, Boxing, and McDojos are one and the same; always aggressive, never capable therfore due to a lack of self-control and obedience to God.

I can highly recommend Ring Fit Adventure if you have a Switch. It feels like the right amount of gamification to distract me from the discomfort of exercise, without risking actually straining something. I have kept up with it much better than the body-weight fitness programme videos I tried before that don't involve beating up cartoon gym equipment.
Also, whatever you try, please listen to your body and don't overdo things just because you feel up to it today. I pulled something trying to get a punch to register in Fitness Boxing and haven't been motivated to pick it up again. I recently got Fitness Circuit as it was on sale, and again moved too enthusiastically in my first session with it. I haven't been put off it, but it clearly works things differently from Ring Fit, where many movements are less jerky as stretching or squashing the ring limits how fast you move.

Not that "limited". I can walk 1/4 of a block before I have to sit down on my Rollator [walker with wheels, hand brake and seat], cause I can't stand too long. Leg & Back related problems.

They inject stuff into my spine to alleviate the pain for me.

Ah dude, sorry to hear that! I hope you are living a pain-free life!!!

Ah, PE Prac - yep, always hated that shit. Torture. Always enjoyed PE Theory more, even when it was awkward stuff like STDs or sex ed, because at least it was in a classroom.

These days, I would think about going out and walking to the shops on the weekends, but one major issue - the area where I live is quite hilly, and having to walk uphill is...no. Not doing that.
If I still lived in my primary school home, in North Epping, which was largely flat (maybe a slight slope? I don't remember - moved out for Year 8, second year of high school, so a long time ago now), then I'd definitely be more interested in daily exercise, but oh well. One downside of having a waterfront view...

Hmm. Question: does it hurt to use your arms? Most of what I do now is punches only, and they can be done in midair with weights _if_ it does not cause injury. That way you can be in extraordinary shape even cardio-wise without standing. If not, I'll try to come up with a better option.

Edit: by the way, when I say punching with weights, I mean starting with one pound dumbells and actually shadowboxing at full speed with them, as if you are blitzing an opponent (The ROK Military goes all out full speed and full force; closest is knockout artists if they conditioned themselves to Blitz nonstop for two hours through extreme cardio training).

If you are starting out, you will tire almost immediately, which is good! A lot of people just do little robot/pattycake punches with dumbells (even Mayweather makes that huge mistake); I use them as if I was against sugar ray robinson at his best and loading himself full of adrenaline. But I would start very light, as it can make one sore and tire out extremely fast and crave a lot of protein. Please ignore the profanity, but punch as if you were defending and counterattacking this man:

I hate stagefighting, that does not mean I am unaware of what my opponents do.

I genuinely HATED P.E. in school and it wasn't just because I was "lazy" really. Most of time there's not much benefit unless you have one of those insane teachers that forces you to do everything😭.
In terms of needing a change in lifestyle and habits, it's really never too late. much of my late teens and early 20s got cut short bc I was dealing with severe mental health issues. Nowadays, I've gotten to a better point mentally and it feels much better after a long time of feeling like I was in a mental state of h*ll. There's nothing wrong with going at your own pace.
