Yes, I've tried as well as two others, each following the instructions DEAD ON with all the necessary files.

No go.

Topic Creator, have you PERSONALLY tried this? Did it work for you?
Why did you decide this method would be the penultimate method of fixing our incompatibility problems?

Did someone else tell you it worked?

The guy just didn't even have the skills necessary to do this quick and dirty trial, so he pawned it off on whoever he could to test his stupid and baseless theory. He didn't even put in the proper switches for the command prompt. He probably didn't even download the "tools" he linked to because after someone asked if these files were "legit" he replied that he didn't know.

Whoever tried the patched CIC roms in an emulator is a smart guy. I should have thought of that. Who knows, maybe it'll work with a different CIC from another rom that's available through the Virtual Console.

Honestly though, I still think it isn't going to work, not now, not ever, so I'm not even going to try.

I cant test it because i dont have gamecube controller, i dont think it will work because the rom after change the CIC cant be played on PC emulators... (and yoshi dont have "controller pak")

However if someone whats to try it for me (on a pal console) send me a PM

Ill give it a whirl now, if the kids can leave me alone for a minute. Just a thought though, yoshi story rom uses compression if i recall, so i may try it with the romc compress tool

Well I did this hours ago. It doesn't work

I DO think this METHOD has some possibility of solving problems for some injections with some games.

hhm, looking at the theory, GoldenEye 007 should work without any patching in mario kart 64, but we already know that doesnt work (both use CIC-NUS-6102 EEPROM (4 Kbits) ) I actually thought emulation was more to do with the 'opcode' of the game ? :\

Thank you for confirming that this doesn't work. Nice try anyways.

And please can someone slap the people saying that RARE has anything to do with incompatible rom/wads???

i tried this months ago... i grew up in the n64 scene and that was the first thing i thought when trying to inject roms in. it doesn't work.

if i remember correctly (and it has been a LONG time since i've fooled with n64) the rare games have special opcodes in them which aren't emulated in the vc emulator bu don't take my word for that. i can promise though that you won't be able to get any rare game working and boot cic isn't the problem. you can see all the different cic/save types in this ancient list for most all games http://www.elitendo.com/n64/usa_boot_save_list.html

and you'll notice, legend of zelda oot is 6505. cic has nothing to do with the vc emu. i also verified the rom in the vc wad is 6505 for oot.

Well not sure if works, I tried in my Linux OS using Wine, Crossover CMD and didn't work out, I even used Virtual Box Windows Xp, and those tool didn't do their job...
But I got this and this one works!

I'll wait for a few more reports and if they all prove that this is BS I'll close the thread.
This IS bs and worst thing of all the first post looks like an actual guide...... Misleading topic title too.

There are some people working on some of these games, Goldeneye, Tooie and PD etc and I can tell you it takes a LOT of editing of the files or patching to get them to run.

Lock this before more people waste time trying the impossible.
