Yep you can always just wait. Was just a suggestion in case you were impatient and wanted something working NOW :-)
Are you planning to go the free method? I've been in contact with PeachDS folks and they claim my payment method -will- work so its just a matter of waiting for them to get more stock, but if this new free way happens long before that I may give it a try, and I may come poking you for help. =P

I love helping! Feel free to message me. I have many consoles I've set up with CFW to sell, but I do have one n3ds that I grabbed because it was an excellent price without checking it's FW, and it was 9.5 :-( I was actually about to sell it just before Christmas but the guy didn't show up. So Im glad about the announcement, and I'm definitely waiting on this new exploit along with everyone else!!!

Looks like PeachDS.com is having issues again? They've taken down all of their products. Why don't they just leave things as they are and have stuff listed as out of stock? All the change is unsettling.

Agreed. They also took down the forum after folks were posting about trying to get their orders canceled.

I'm not sure if I should ask for a refund or wait like 12 more days until they can "get a larger batch" and fulfill the orders.

Ask for a refund: you can now downgrade to 9.2.

The only problem is that there isn't a simple tutorial to follow at this point (at least, as simple as using the Sky3DS+). Like, this is the closest step-by-step I have seen (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-the-simple-guide-to-downgrading-your-3ds.407888), but even some steps are confusing. Like, step 3 where you have to find your own CIAs and step 5 where you have access to something called HomebrewLauncher? I feel like I need something at this level of instruction before I feel comfortable proceeding: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...including-emunand-coldboot-cia-manager.405589

Work on setting up homebrew first. There's lots of ways to do it. Search for browserhax and homemenuhax in the homebrew forum. It's assumed that anybody on >9.2 is already using homebrew (or is here to learn how to set it up) otherwise what would you be doing in the forums? You would only have access to legit stuff. As for where to get the CIA files, you are not allowed to ask where to get them but have a look at people's responses when links to roms are asked for. The reply will be vague (as nobody is allowed to give a link to the site that everybody uses), but should contain enough information for you to find it through Google.

Edit: reading Smealum's webpage should give you lots of info about homebrew as well, as he's responsible for most of the progress.

Thanks for replying. I thought the whole point of the downgrading development is to enable homebrew for anyone on >9.2? Like, if you're running >9.2, there is no homebrew option?

Everybody can use homebrew currently. Some access points were shut off for the most recent few firmwares for a short time but they were readded a few weeks ago. Downgrading to 9.2 will allow you full CFW to install any game you like. Homebrew only lets you use homebrew (games and apps made by hobbyist programmers) and emulators. It doesn't let you run any official 3DS games.

Edit: If you choose to use Sky anyway, keep in mind you will not be able to play any eShop-only games. You can only play what came as a cartridge, unmodified.

Oh, I understand now. And regarding the CIAs, I have access to game CIAs, but the the tutorial on step 3 (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-the-simple-guide-to-downgrading-your-3ds.407888) seems to be referring to something else? Like CIAs that are used to enable a downgrade.

Yes, you need to find the update pack for 9.2 for your region and matching your console type (n3ds or o3ds) and "full" not modified.
Did you try to downgrade already or are you waiting a little more? The process seems really easy as I have ironhax and access to homebrew launcher.

Unfortunately I didn't see the announcement until I left for work, so I have to wait till this evening. Almost nobody is back from leave yet so I have almost nothing to do, I wish I had brought my n3ds with me as I could have done it instead of taking a super long lunch and reading these forums :-p

That anxiety is what I'm feeling waiting for the sky3ds+ lol! I will read a little more and then decide.

Thanks for all your help. One final question: I have an N3DS with ambassador status (the GBA games) at 10.3. Will downgrading and installing a CFW otherwise cause any irreversible issues? If so, I can wait for the Sky3DS+.

I believe people have said that their NNID and bought games were unaffected by the downgrade. So I think you'll be fine. If you read through the downgrade tutorial thread you'll find a few people who have asked the question and have had it answered.

It's not the absolute end of the world if your NNID gets disconnected: First, you might be able to just link it again (the console's serial hasn't changed), second, you could ring Nintendo and they might link it again, third, if the downgrade is successful you can install every one of the ambassador games as .cia anyway.
