From time to time i see on twitter people posting translations for PC88 games (but i always forget the translators names - my twitter is kinda busy)

Ive been thinking about two of em (Mystery House and MIrrors) lately

Has anyone tried PC88 emulation? On android? On retroarch?

Does it work well? Is it easy to find the translated games? Are the games any good?

Few games for NEC PC-88 with english translation: Black Onyx, Shiryou Sensen, Shin Taketori Monogatari and Galactic Wars.

Almost all the games for PC-8801 are visual novels. Some strategy and RPG, a few action. The action games all have terrible scrolling... limitation of the system unfortunately... you got your high resolution, the tradeoff is fewer colors (major dithering) and low frame rates. Almost all the RPGs are also available for PC-98, where they look and sound better. What you do get with PC-88 is an unmistakably 80s feel, so if you like 1980s anime you may like PC-88.

Some games for PC-88VA are quite comparable to PC-98 versions (of audio, graphic quality). For example - Fray in Magical Adventure.
In any case, people (those who do not know Japanese) who want to get acquainted with games with PC-88 inevitably encounter a small number of portable games.
For example, Carmine 88 looks interesting, but you can't play it without knowing Japanese.

There are several good emulators of PC-88: Quasi88, M88, emulators from Common Source Project (e.g., ePC-8801MA for emulation games with CD).
